Job Description

As a key member of the Mace team, the Strategic Procurement Director will play a crucial role in driving the company's procurement strategy forward. This exciting opportunity will see you working closely with senior stakeholders to develop and implement effective procurement plans, ensuring that the company's projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives
  • Provide expert technical and functional advice on procurement matters, applying value management techniques to ensure maximum value for money
  • Deliver estimating and cost planning activities, including the ownership and presentation of the final cost plan
  • Drive the procurement process, ensuring that all stages are performed effectively, from prequalification to contract preparation
  • Develop and maintain a series of internal and external relationships to ensure effective communication and collaboration
  • Supervise the preparation of contract documents, warranties, bonds, and licenses to ensure formal execution by the appropriate parties
  • Accountable for the measurement of project valuations, ensuring cost checking and valuation work is managed effectively
  • Deliver and produce cost control and reporting services to present to stakeholders
  • Direct and manage costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities, and client charges
  • Deliver continuous improvements in processes through the application of best practices and lessons learned, driving transformational change
  • Oversee the evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs made by external stakeholders
  • Direct the issue of certificates of making good defects and final completion in accordance with any requirements relating to completion, submissions, and approvals
  • Manage certificates of practical completion, ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed
  • Manage a large team of direct reports, driving the appropriate behaviors to achieve success and key performance indicators (KPIs), including a continuous improvement culture
  • Provide performance management, technical, and career development, and coaching
  • Work collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work
