Job Summary:

The Head of Inclusion and Student Support will lead and manage the provision for students with special educational needs and disabilities at Diyar Education. This role requires a strong leader who can develop and implement effective strategies to ensure that all students receive the support they need to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Management:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive SEN policy that aligns with current legislation and best practices.
  • Lead and manage a team of professionals who provide support to students with special educational needs.
  • Coordinate the provision for students with special educational needs, ensuring that they have access to a broad, balanced, and relevant curriculum.
Student Support:
  • Oversee the identification and assessment of students with special educational needs, developing individualized education plans (IEPs) and monitoring their progress.
  • Ensure that appropriate interventions and support are in place for students with special educational needs, including in-class support, specialized teaching, and access to external services.
  • Foster an inclusive school environment where all students feel valued and supported.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with teachers to ensure that they are equipped with the skills and resources needed to support students with special educational needs.
  • Liaise with parents, keeping them informed about their child's progress and involving them in the development and review of IEPs.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, including educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists, to provide comprehensive support for students with special educational needs.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
  • Monitor the effectiveness of SEN provision, using data to identify areas for improvement and inform strategic planning.
  • Prepare reports for senior leadership and governors on the progress and outcomes of students with special educational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and maintain up-to-date records of SEN provision.
Professional Development:
  • Stay current with advancements in SEN education and inclusion practices.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and share best practices with colleagues.
  • Provide training and support to staff on SEN and inclusion-related issues.

Performance Indicators:

  1. Effective implementation of SEN policy and procedures
  2. Positive outcomes and progress for students with special educational needs
  3. High levels of staff confidence and competence in supporting students with special educational needs
  4. Strong relationships with parents and external agencies
  5. Compliance with statutory requirements and best practices in SEN provision

Qualifications:

  1. Qualified Teacher Status or Certification in respective country
  2. Degree in Education or a related field, with a specialization in SEN preferred
  3. Extensive 5 years experience working with students with special educational needs
  4. Strong leadership and management skills
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  6. Commitment to ongoing professional development and inclusion best practices

Other Specific Duties:

Includes playing a full part in the school community, continuing personal professional development, complying with health and safety policies, and undertaking additional duties as specified.
