About the Company:
This organization is involved in the exploration, production, transportation, and marketing of crude oil and natural gas. It operates through various segments: Upstream, Downstream, and Corporate. The Upstream segment encompasses the exploration and production of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. The Downstream segment is dedicated to refining, logistics, power generation, and the marketing of crude oil, petroleum, and petrochemical products along with related services for both international and domestic clients. The Corporate segment provides essential support services including human resources, finance, and information technology.

Position Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Linear Programming (LP) Engineer with a strong background in refinery optimization and economic analysis to join our Operations Engineering Solutions Department (OESD). OESD, a division of Global Manufacturing, delivers specialized operational and process engineering support across all process technologies within the organization, including both wholly-owned and affiliated refining and chemical facilities.

OESD plays a pivotal role in optimizing crude allocation and operational efficiency across global manufacturing sites to enhance revenue, boost profitability, and leverage international market opportunities. Additionally, OESD oversees the LP gatekeeper function for wholly-owned refineries and manages the global MPIMS model. The department also maintains an integrated global planning model for exploring new markets and integration strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, update, and operate LP models for both existing and new refineries using advanced software to optimize operations and configurations aimed at maximizing net cash margins.
  • Identify opportunities for margin enhancement through LP models and conduct economic assessments utilizing various financial metrics.
  • Employ simulation software for rigorous analysis and comparison with actual refinery performance, identifying gaps and recommending corrective measures.
  • Support the technical and economic evaluation of projects from inception to completion, prioritizing them against investment criteria and downstream strategies.
  • Provide expert advisory support to refinery management on LP and optimization issues, including crude selection and operational constraints.
  • Collaborate with refinery engineers, planners, schedulers, and marketers to align LP models with operational objectives.
  • Validate and calibrate LP models using historical data and refinery test runs to ensure accuracy under varying operational conditions.
  • Document model modifications and updates, communicating these changes to stakeholders while supporting global MPIMS model development.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of LP models and data in LP gatekeeping processes.
  • Conduct training sessions for refinery LP engineers and users, sharing best practices and updating the LP manual.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to relocate.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 17 years of experience in the Oil & Gas sector, particularly in refining and petrochemical industries, with a focus on LP modeling and optimization.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools.
  • Strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • In-depth understanding of refining processes and economics, as well as global crude and product market trends.
  • Experience in developing and managing LP models for complex integrated refineries.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent presentation and reporting skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, integrity, and leadership capabilities.
