About the Company:
This organization is involved in the exploration, production, transportation, and marketing of crude oil and natural gas. It operates through various segments: Upstream, Downstream, and Corporate. The Upstream segment encompasses exploration, field development, and production of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. The Downstream segment is dedicated to refining, logistics, power generation, and the marketing of crude oil, petroleum, and petrochemical products, alongside related services for both international and domestic clients. The Corporate segment provides essential support services including human resources, finance, and information technology.

Position Overview:

We are in search of a Senior Linear Programming (LP) Engineer with a strong background in refinery optimization and economic analysis to join our Operations Engineering Solutions Department (OESD). OESD, part of Global Manufacturing, delivers specialized operational and process engineering support across all process technologies within the organization, including both wholly-owned and affiliated refining and chemical facilities.

The OESD team plays a vital role in optimizing crude allocation and operations across global manufacturing facilities to enhance revenue, increase profitability, and seize international market opportunities. Furthermore, OESD oversees the LP gatekeeper function for wholly-owned refineries and manages the global MPIMS model, maintaining an integrated global planning model for exploring new markets and integration options.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, update, and operate LP models for both existing and new refineries utilizing PIMS software to optimize operations and configurations for maximizing net cash margin.
  • Identify opportunities for margin enhancement through LP models and perform economic evaluations using NPV, IRR, and other financial metrics.
  • Utilize Aspen HYSYS software for detailed simulations and backcasting to compare with actual refinery performance, analyzing discrepancies and proposing corrective measures.
  • Support the technical and economic evaluation of projects from initial screening to closure, prioritizing against investment criteria and downstream strategies.
  • Provide technical advisory support to refinery management on LP and optimization issues, including crude selection, product slate, and operational constraints.
  • Collaborate with refinery engineers, planners, schedulers, and marketers to align LP models and objectives.
  • Validate and calibrate LP models using historical data and refinery test runs, ensuring accuracy under current and future operating conditions.
  • Document model modifications and updates, communicating them to stakeholders and supporting global MPIMS model development.
  • Maintain the quality and consistency of LP models and data in LP gatekeeping processes for refineries and the global MPIMS model.
  • Conduct training sessions for refinery LP engineers and users, sharing best practices and updating the LP manual.

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to relocate.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering from a recognized institution; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 17 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Industry, specifically in refining and petrochemical sectors, with expertise in LP modeling, optimization, and economics.
  • Proficient in PIMS and Aspen HYSYS software, along with other relevant tools and standards.
  • Demonstrated strong technical, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills, capable of applying knowledge to various LP and optimization challenges and effectively communicating with stakeholders.
  • Thorough understanding of refining processes and economics, as well as global crude and product markets and trends.
  • Experience in developing and running LP models for complex integrated refineries, including scenario analysis and sensitivity studies.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong presentation and reporting skills, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly and concisely.
