We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to take charge of all mechanical equipment engineering deliverables. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of static equipment design, ensuring adherence to applicable engineering codes and standards, as well as the policies and procedures of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume full accountability for mechanical engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Contribute to the development of Technical Work Practices (TWP's) and relevant Standards.
  • Assist in the planning, scheduling, and execution of engineering activities, including manhour estimation and schedule preparation for bids and tenders.
  • Identify and address any concerns regarding project progress or quality, recommending corrective actions as necessary.
  • Participate in weekly progress meetings and generate status reports for project management.
  • Ensure that all team members are assessed for competency and maintain the necessary skill levels in accordance with company and client standards.
  • Establish minimum acceptance criteria and conduct pre-qualification assessments of third-party vendors.
  • Engage with Licensors, Equipment Vendors, and OEMs to ensure project deliverables align with project scope.
  • Define the scope of work for third-party subcontractors as needed.
  • Prepare evaluations for tender bids and assess submitted proposals.
  • Review vendor documentation related to detailed engineering projects.
  • Provide input for the EPC scope of work and tender packages for execution stages.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines throughout all phases of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and startup to prevent conflicts in engineering design.
  • Offer technical support on-site regarding material inspections and Factory Acceptance Testing.
  • Ensure adherence to management of change processes, both technical and financial.
  • Provide guidance on technical inquiries related to mechanical engineering and manage deviations appropriately.
  • Participate in project safety and design reviews as required.
  • Guarantee that all work is executed to the highest quality standards and delivered on schedule.
  • Collaborate with the client's engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure a unified approach to project completion.
  • Take ownership of risk identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, and closure within your discipline.
  • Promote a culture of safety at all times.
  • Deliver sound technical advice and solutions to a variety of engineering challenges.
  • Encourage innovative working methods and champion continuous improvement within the department.
  • Ensure that all lessons learned are documented and disseminated.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in the Oil and Gas sector.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the Middle East region.
  • Experience with ADNOC is preferred.
  • Possess specialized knowledge of major mechanical equipment types.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant international codes and standards.
