About the Role

Job Summary:

The Principal Project Engineer will be responsible for leading the engineering scope of a project, establishing and implementing project procedures to ensure deliverables meet quality and technical content requirements. This role will also manage the technical execution to support business considerations established for the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the engineering scope of a project, ensuring deliverables meet quality and technical content requirements.
  2. Establish and implement project procedures to ensure compliance with contract documents.
  3. Manage the technical execution to support business considerations established for the project.
  4. Lead functional teams or projects, and provide direction to and coordinate with the Engineering and Design Leads on an assigned project.
  5. Develop and implement the Project Execution Plan, incorporating multi-office execution as appropriate.
  6. Develop internal/external Division of Responsibility (DOR) matrix as required.
  7. Prepare a Project Coordination Procedure, and communicate project requirements to the team.
  8. Supervise and provide guidance to other Project Engineers, ensuring effective communication among engineering disciplines.
  9. Document discussions and decisions related to the design, and prepare, review, and approve meeting minutes.
  10. Prepare, review, and approve Technical Queries, Design Deviations, and responses to RFI's and other correspondence.
  11. Prepare and approve weekly and monthly reports for management, and assume responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control.
  12. Manage change effectively and proactively, and develop and maintain Project Engineering documents.
  13. Assemble and approve the Engineering Staffing Plan, Equipment List, Potential Change Notices, Weekly and Monthly reports for management, and Action item lists (internal and external).
  14. Review work with clients, management, and project leads, and coordinate third-party interfaces.
  15. Identify problems and coordinate with the engineering team to correct, and lead orderly handover and archiving of the completed project.
  16. Approve and submit the closeout report, and review and approve Lessons Learned submitted.
About You

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Engineering.
  2. 2-4 years of experience as Project Engineering Manager on a project.
  3. 5-10 years of Project Engineering experience.
  4. Requires depth and/or breadth of expertise in own specialized discipline or field.
  5. Field assignment experience.
  6. Experience in International Projects.
  7. Experience with multi-office (MOPEX) execution.
  8. Experience in execution as part of a Joint Venture or Consortium Group.
  9. Experience developing proposals and contractual documentation.
  10. Experience in revamping (Brownfield) and grassroots (Greenfield) projects.
  11. Demonstrates a broad technical knowledge of detailed design engineering codes and standards.
  12. Familiar with detailed engineering and design work procedures and processes.
  13. Able to read and understand contractual documentation.
  14. Able to effectively communicate with all stakeholders on a project.
  15. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.
  16. Works independently or with guidance in complex situations.
  17. Expected to lead functional teams or projects.
  18. Leads others to solve complex problems, uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgment and identify innovative solutions.
  19. Explains difficult concepts and negotiates with others to adopt a different point of view.
  20. Preferably Registered Engineer in Training (ElT) or member of a professional engineering society as applicable.
  21. Show flexibility and ensure proper hand-over with regards to:
  • The reassignment to other departments, construction sites, and fabrication yards.
  • The replacement of colleagues during illness and holidays.
  • The provision of assistance to other colleagues with heavy workloads (also other projects) when possible/desirable.
  • The managing/learning of future current working methods and software applications.
