Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Investment Analyst to join our team at Midstar. As an Investment Analyst, you will play a critical role in providing technical and professional support to our Investment Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and analyze information from multiple sources to identify, screen, and develop new investment opportunities for Midstar.
  • Due Diligence Support: Assist the Investment Team in conducting due diligence processes for investments in new funds.
  • Financial Performance Monitoring: Support the Investment Team in monitoring financial performance and preparing ad-hoc reports for decision-making purposes.
  • Risk Management: Identify any deviations from risk parameters and report them to the Line Manager.
  • Economic and Market Trend Analysis: Examine and assess economic and market trends, research reports, public filings, and various other indicators and factors to determine suitable applications of investment strategy.
  • Investment Opportunity Identification: Research various sectors and subsectors within our target verticals to identify potential investment opportunities.
  • Portfolio Monitoring: Keep track of the short-term investment portfolios of Midstar and advise the Line Manager to take appropriate action.
  • Transaction Reconciliation: Carry out reconciliation of all transactions with the Accounts Department to ensure accuracy.
  • Market Rate Monitoring: Regularly monitor financial market rates and inform the Manager to take appropriate action.
  • Investment Committee Updates: Prepare regular updates for the Investment Committee on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Meeting Minutes: Attend periodic meetings of the Investment Committee, take down minutes of the meeting, and circulate amongst members.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform any other tasks and responsibilities assigned from time to time.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to use Portfolio Management System and be a proactive user (require basic coding skills).
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or equivalent quantitative subjects.
  • Certificate: Certificate in Financial Analysis like CFA would be a plus.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of post-qualification experience in portfolio management, research, banking, and structured family offices.
  • Skills: High level of proficiency in English language, both written and spoken. Report writing skills. Investment Analysis skills. Data Analysis and Research. High level of proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Power Point, Word, and Excel. Proficient in using Bloomberg, Market Data software, Reuters or Six. VBA, basic coding (HTML, SQL) is a plus.
