Position Overview
The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) is a prominent regional financial institution dedicated to enhancing economic, financial, and monetary stability across its member nations. Established in 1976, the AMF plays a crucial role in fostering economic integration and development within the Arab world.
To fulfill its mission, the AMF offers various financial instruments, including short-term and medium-term credit facilities, aimed at supporting member states in achieving external sector stability and addressing balance of payments challenges. Additionally, the AMF is committed to advancing the financial sector within the region and enhancing capacity through targeted training programs and technical assistance.
The Training and Capacity Building Institute (TCBI), founded in 1988, is instrumental in equipping officials from AMF member states with essential skills in economics, finance, and policy development. This is achieved through tailored, hands-on training courses designed to bolster human, institutional, and technical capacities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing, organizing, and delivering training sessions and technical support in fiscal policy, covering areas such as Fiscal Policy Analysis, Fiscal Frameworks, Fiscal Sustainability, and Managing Fiscal Risks through various modalities (in-person, virtual, online, hybrid, and blended).
- Creating new training programs to address the evolving needs of member countries and staying updated with advancements in economic and financial analysis.
- Engaging in outreach efforts to align technical assistance and training with the capacity-building requirements of the member countries served by TCBI.
- Actively participating in the execution of activities related to AMF initiatives.
- Conducting research and drafting reports on economic and financial subjects.
- Contributing to the preparation of reports and working papers associated with committees and working groups from the Council of Arab Central Bank Governors and Arab Monetary Authorities, as well as the Council of Arab Finance Ministers.
- Building and maintaining partnerships with external organizations, academic institutions, experts, and stakeholders to enhance training resources and capabilities.
Professional Qualifications and Experience:
Qualifications:
- Citizen of an Arab country.
- Master's degree (preferably Ph.D.) in economics, finance, or a related discipline from a recognized academic institution.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in a supervisory capacity within ministries of finance, research institutions, or similar regional and international organizations.
- Proficiency in Arabic, with fluency in English and French considered an advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Strong analytical abilities and expertise in economic and statistical software such as Python, R, and EViews.
- A history of recent publications in peer-reviewed economic journals in the fields of economics, finance, and monetary policy.
- Experience in formulating macroeconomic policies to achieve economic objectives and understanding the interplay between various macroeconomic policies.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multicultural team.
