Job Title: ED V Structural Designer

At Wood, we are seeking a highly skilled ED V Structural Designer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing structural systems for various projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop working drawings and detailed designs in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Create plans, layouts, sections, and bills of material for steel and concrete structures.
  • Investigate and resolve design and field engineering problems using innovative approaches.
  • Function as a checker when required and work with the Lead Engineer on layout planning.
  • Assist in technical supervision of Civil/Structural designers and prepare design drawings and MTOs.
  • Develop 3D models for complex industrial structures.
  • Work on assignments involving various design procedures and techniques.
  • Perform layouts, design, and checking work from basic data supplied.
  • Design and create detail drawings from rough sketches involving intricate calculations and fundamental engineering principles.
  • Establish project drafting standards and monitor their conformance.
  • Design and construct models, prototypes, processes, or equipment; compile and evaluate data, make recommendations, and prepare reports.
  • Prepare estimates of time, quantities, materials, and labor required for activities related to testing, installation, manufacture, design, or construction.
  • Generate bills of materials from finished designs.
  • Ensure quality in design and technical accuracy in the preparation of drawings, material quantities, etc., including reviewing others' work at more senior levels.
  • Plan assigned work effectively and obtain/provide information liaising with the project team and line manager in time to control man-hours and achieve targets.
  • Carry out site visits/surveys and provide inputs to site visit reports.
Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in design.
  • Competent user of 3D modeling software such as SP3D, PDS, Navisworks, Revit Structure.
  • O&G/Industrial Building experiences preferred.
  • An understanding of related engineering principles and practices, plus training and diversified experience in the field of activity is required.
  • Capable of interpreting key documents including engineering standards, piping material specifications, P&IDs, and Line Lists.
  • Technically oriented, mechanically inclined, good at mathematics, and talented at translating intangible concepts into hands-on project plans.
  • Competent user of MicroStation and AutoCAD software.
