About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimation Manager to lead our estimation team and manage the cost estimation process for various construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and competitive bids, overseeing the preparation of detailed cost estimates, and collaborating with project teams to optimize project profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage the estimation team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality work output.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments, such as procurement, engineering, and project management, to ensure seamless collaboration during the estimation process.
  • Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews and identify opportunities for professional development within the team.
  • Cost Estimation: Oversee the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overheads.
  • Project Analysis: Review and analyze project specifications, drawings, and contracts to determine the scope of work and required resources.
  • Bid Preparation: Lead the preparation of competitive bids and tender documents, ensuring alignment with company standards and client requirements.
  • Risk Management: Identify and analyze risks associated with project costs and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Estimation Strategies: Develop and implement estimation strategies that align with company goals and market conditions.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze historical data and market trends to improve the accuracy and competitiveness of cost estimates.
  • Business Insights: Collaborate with senior management to provide insights and recommendations on pricing strategies and project selection.
  • Client Communication: Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather relevant information and clarify project requirements during the estimation process.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best possible pricing and terms.
  • Estimate Presentation: Present and justify estimates and tender submissions to senior management and clients.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all estimates are prepared in compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Quality Control: Implement quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all estimates and tender submissions.
  • Project Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate the performance of completed projects against initial estimates to identify areas for improvement.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present detailed estimation reports to senior management, highlighting key assumptions, risks, and opportunities.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all estimation activities, including bid submissions, cost analyses, and project documentation.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Membership: Professional membership with RICS, CIOB, or similar is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in construction estimation, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, and cost management principles. Proficiency in estimation software, such as CostX, WinQS, or similar. Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a high attention to detail.
