POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in rotating systems will play a crucial role in the design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of rotating machinery within the oil and gas sector. This position is essential for ensuring the reliability and integrity of key equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, and fans, which are critical for uninterrupted operations across upstream, midstream, and downstream facilities. The engineer will collaborate with various disciplines to enhance equipment performance, minimize downtime, and adhere to industry standards and safety protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and evaluate technical specifications, datasheets, and design documentation for rotating machinery, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Advise on suitable rotating machinery for specific applications, taking into account efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Supervise the installation and commissioning of rotating equipment, ensuring correct alignment, balancing, and adherence to design specifications.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of rotating machinery to detect and address potential issues proactively.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, implementing corrective actions swiftly.
  • Analyze performance data of equipment to identify improvement opportunities, implementing modifications and optimizing operational conditions.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to guarantee quality and timely delivery of rotating machinery and spare parts.
  • Manage service contracts and vendor performance effectively.
  • Ensure all rotating equipment meets relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Conduct risk assessments and engage in safety audits.
  • Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, detailed design, construction, and startup phases.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive reports, including maintenance records, inspection reports, and performance analyses.
  • Update equipment documentation as necessary.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., API, ASME) are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in rotating machinery engineering within the oil and gas industry, including familiarity with pumps, compressors, turbines, and other essential equipment.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical design principles, material selection, vibration analysis, and reliability engineering.
  • Understanding of industry codes and standards such as API, ASME, and ISO.
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools for design, analysis, and simulation (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, CAESAR II).
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues in rotating equipment, focusing on minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.
  • Experience in managing rotating equipment projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Strong commitment to safety, with knowledge of HSE practices and the ability to enforce safety standards in all work aspects.
