We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Assurance Specialist to join our team at Etihad Rail Operating Companies. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of our safety management systems, ensuring compliance with UAE railway regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Safety Management Systems
- Assist in the development and implementation of rail safety management systems in accordance with local and international railway standards.
- Ensure Compliance with Safety Regulations
- Ensure compliance with the operational safety case is maintained, including management of operational limitations.
- Manage Hazard Logs and Risk Registers
- Update the hazard log and maintain the risk registers, ensuring all identified risks are documented and managed effectively.
- Conduct Safety Inspections and Audits
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with railway safety regulations and the operations safety case.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders
- Collaborate with various departments to integrate safety measures into all aspects of rail infrastructure operations, including construction, maintenance, and train services.
- Liaise with Regulatory Authorities
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and the operations safety case.
- Maintain Accurate Records
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, audits, incident investigations, hazard logs, and risk registers.
- Stay Current with Industry Developments
- Stay current on industry best practices, regulations, and standards related to railway safety, and assist in updating Etihad Rail Infrastructure's safety procedures accordingly.
- Support Incident Investigations
- Support the investigation of safety incidents, near misses, and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.
- Develop and Deliver Safety Training
- Participate in the development and delivery of safety training programs and initiatives to promote a strong safety culture within the organization, in line with the operations safety case.
- Academic Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Safety Management, Risk or related field.
- Professional Qualifications
- Certification in risk management techniques.
- Professional membership in audit, health and safety, risk, environmental management or engineering is highly desirable.
- Full Driving license is essential.
- Experience
- 5+ years in safety or risk related roles, preferably rail.
- Experience in updating hazard logs and maintaining risk registers.
- Possession of previous international experience in a high hazard industry.
- Knowledge of local and international railway safety regulations and standards.
- Experience in writing reports, processes, and procedures.
- Experience in rail operations / rail infrastructure is desirable.
- Skills
- Excellent communication skills are necessary in all forms with a proven ability to speak publicly and present in a professional manner.
- Excellent English language skill both written and verbal. Knowledge of Arabic is preferable.
- Able to manage cultural diversity in the workplace and recognise the sensitivities between different cultures.
- Adaptability and resilience to work in a harsh environment with most of the time being employed in desert locations.
- Be a person of trust and integrity and a people person who possesses the ability to influence, coach and mentor others. Be a safety role model and lead by example.
