Job Description
The Front Office Administrator plays a vital role in ensuring seamless patient flow and experience at NMC Hospital. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring Efficient Registration: Ensure timely and accurate registration of all outpatients, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
- Patient Identification: Verify patient identity documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Insurance Verification: Confirm patients' insurance eligibility for approval.
- Service Scheduling: Schedule, reschedule, cancel, and confirm outpatient and medical services as needed.
- Cash Handling: Collect payment from patients, including cash, deductibles, co-insurance, and co-payments, according to insurance and/or Statement of Benefits (SOB).
- Interdepartmental Coordination: Collaborate with nursing and other departments to address patient inquiries.
- Service Delays Communication: Inform patients about delays in diagnostic or treatment services.
- Proper Directing: Direct patients to the correct clinics or areas.
- Document Management: Submit documents related to cash collection and refunds to the Chief Cashier.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records for authentication purposes, reporting to the Billing Supervisor.
- Daily Cash Reconciliation: Perform daily cash and credit card reconciliations, and report any discrepancies to the Chief Cashier.
- Cash Deposit Procedures: Follow established procedures for depositing collected cash into the Main Cash Box.
- Rectification Support: Provide support for rectification of documents and reports requested by the Back Office Claims Submission Team.
- Training Assistance: Assist in training new employees as directed by the supervisor.
- Insurance Knowledge: Possess knowledge of insurance protocols.
- Pre-authorization Coordination: Work with the insurance department and clinic for pre-authorization of services.
- Medical Terminology: Familiarity with basic medical terminology, limited to front office operations.
