Job Title: Planning Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Planning Engineer to join our team at Duncan & Ross. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the planning and execution of construction projects, ensuring timely completion, and meeting quality and cost objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and execution of construction projects, ensuring timely completion and meeting quality and cost objectives.
  • Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and team members.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Supervision Head to plan, organize, and monitor all supervision activities.
  • Provide regular reports to ensure the project meets client expectations on time, cost, and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE guidelines, minimizing environmental and safety risks on site.
  • Manage documentation, design drawings, reports, change orders, and other key project documents.
  • Oversee communication between the client, project manager (if any), and stakeholders.
  • Ensure that weekly and monthly progress reports are completed accurately and address any issues promptly.
  • Lead design review processes at the start of the project and resolve issues related to design integrity, constructability, and materials.
  • Coordinate and resolve project-related issues during progress meetings with stakeholders.
  • Implement and monitor the QA/QC program, ensuring adherence to contract requirements, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Review and comment on project documents, materials, and samples, ensuring compliance with quality expectations.
  • Provide guidance and assign tasks to staff working under your supervision, ensuring feedback and reporting mechanisms are in place.
  • Ensure that local authority regulations are respected and adhered to throughout the project.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering (Master's degree or PMP certification preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of local authorities' regulations and project management best practices.
  • Ongoing professional development in areas relevant to project management and strategic practice.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in construction project management.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading large-scale construction projects.
  • Proven experience in commercial management, including internal financial monitoring (profit/loss procedures).
  • Extensive experience in FIDIC contract environments.
  • Expertise in managing and coordinating project tasks, including construction programming and HSE/sustainability regulations.
  • Familiarity with project management tasks as per international standards.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Sound knowledge of scheduling tools, such as MS Project (Primavera experience preferred).
  • Experience in program management is an advantage.
  • Experience dealing with local authorities.
