Job Summary

Asterix Communications is seeking a skilled Fuels Electrician to join our team. As a Fuels Electrician, you will be responsible for performing electrical repairs and maintenance on Fuels assets in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and applicable USAF requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with all standard operating procedures, work instructions, USAF Technical Orders, industrial safety and environmental policies.
  • Inspect, test, repair and maintain electrical systems on Fuels assets.
  • Use and interpret wiring diagrams, test equipment and special tools.
  • Charge and repair air conditioning systems.
  • Maintain and store out-load items: wet and dry charged batteries, electrolyte, battery clamps and other required equipment.
  • Keep a stock of charged batteries in accordance with the PWS and as directed by supervision.
  • Maintain the battery charging room if applicable.
  • Fits and removes batteries on receipt or out-load of Fuels assets.
  • Assist Fuels Technicians as required with Fuels maintenance actions.
  • Report worn or broken tools to Fuels supervision and identify new tool requirements.
  • Document time sheets and work orders.
  • Clean inside and outside work areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to understand, speak, read and write English at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to read and comprehend all required publications and electrical system schematics.
  • Capacity to work effectively with a diverse workforce encompassing different cultural backgrounds.
  • Must possess a valid home country driver's license and ability to obtain host nation driver's license.
  • May be required to operate material handling and light to heavy military type vehicles/equipment.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two years experience as an electrician required.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
  • Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) according to prescribed procedures and as required for task being performed.
  • Physically capable of performing all required duties; capable of lifting/pushing/pulling a minimum of 50 lbs. and performing extensive work handling/lifting equipment.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Satisfactory completion of formal training, preferably an apprenticeship in electrical engineering preferred.
  • Three years as an electrician preferred.
