This organization is engaged in the exploration, production, transportation, and marketing of crude oil and natural gas. It operates through various segments: Upstream, Downstream, and Corporate. The Upstream segment encompasses exploration, field development, and production of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids. The Downstream segment is dedicated to refining, logistics, power generation, and the marketing of crude oil, petroleum, and petrochemical products, along with related services for both international and domestic clients. The Corporate segment provides essential support services, including human resources, finance, and information technology.

Position Summary:

We are looking for a Human Factors Specialist to become a part of the Loss Prevention division, which serves as the corporate safety organization. This division offers daily in-field occupational and process safety support, as well as centralized technical consulting. Our field offices provide comprehensive services to all facilities and departments across the region. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver corporate support and solutions aimed at enhancing the human performance of frontline personnel. This will be achieved by developing effective systems to manage human error and mitigate incidents caused by human factors. The specialist will utilize established methodologies to foster a positive safety culture and cultivate safety leadership skills among critical roles within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design tools for integrating human factors into both qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, including human failure analysis and safety-critical task analysis.
  • Develop assessment tools for evaluating human performance in operational activities.
  • Engage in incident investigations to analyze human performance challenges.
  • Provide expertise and validation on the incorporation of Human Factors engineering into capital projects.
  • Advise on the formulation and management of operational and maintenance procedures to enhance human factors.
  • Create systems and apply expert methodologies to integrate risk-informed competencies.
  • Facilitate effective communication for frontline teams.
  • Consult on fatigue risk management and shift work schedule optimization.
  • Establish tools to assess safe staffing levels, optimal workload, and function allocation.
  • Support organizational change management by developing relevant tools and strategies.
  • Formulate programs and strategies to promote and maintain a positive safety culture.
  • Implement proven techniques to evaluate safety culture and execute targeted interventions.
  • Enhance safety leadership competencies at all organizational levels.
  • Incorporate Human Factors considerations into daily operations and maintenance tasks, including site inspections and job briefings.
  • Create educational materials such as pamphlets, presentations, and videos to enhance understanding of human factors.
  • Deliver training and awareness sessions on various human factors topics.

Qualifications:

  • Relocation Requirement: This position necessitates the candidate to permanently relocate.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial psychology, human factors, or ergonomics is required.
  • A Master's degree and/or PhD in Human Factors, Ergonomics, or Industrial Psychology is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in Human Factors within the Oil and Gas sector, including work with international oil and gas companies, consultancy firms, or EPC companies.
  • Preferred certifications in human factors, such as Certified Human Factors Professional (CHFP), Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE), Chartered Ergonomics and Human Factors Specialist (C.ErgHF), or European Ergonomist (Eur.Erg).
