Job Purpose:

Oversees the financial accounts of an airline, focusing on all non-operational and non-technical revenue streams while ensuring adherence to established accounting standards and protocols. Responsible for managing revenue and cost accounting for subsidiary entities. Engages with both internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, financial institutions, auditors, and suppliers, to facilitate or resolve function-related issues in line with company policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervises the financial accounts related to all costs and revenue streams, coordinating with stakeholders and external entities to ensure timely and accurate reporting while complying with regulations.
  • Manages general ledgers, subsidiary ledgers, and suspense accounts to guarantee accurate posting and recording of financial transactions.
  • Delivers IFRS-compliant audited and consolidated financial statements for all group entities.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert for the implementation of financial ERP systems, ensuring integration with multifunctional systems.
  • Responsible for all revenue channels across various entities, ensuring receivables are collected per credit terms and establishing robust internal controls to prevent revenue leakage.
  • Monitors direct sector costs and payments, analyzing rates in purchase orders and invoices against previous transactions to identify discrepancies.
  • Collaborates with internal and external auditors to facilitate audit reviews and ensure compliance with adopted procedures.
Continued Responsibilities:
  • Partners with stakeholders to prepare budgets for direct sector costs, comparing actual expenses against estimates, analyzing variances, and communicating results to department heads.
  • Leads and develops the skills of the team, focusing on knowledge sharing, process improvement, and career advancement.
  • Sets objectives and identifies KPIs for team members, ensuring they are aware of their targets and providing ongoing support to help them achieve their goals.
  • Ensures optimal utilization of resources, including manpower and systems, to achieve productivity aligned with the company's financial objectives.
  • Generates function-related reports, such as MIS reports, to be presented to management regularly, ensuring financial planning and reporting are highlighted.
  • Oversees the taxation function, contributing to the design of tax processes and ensuring timely filing of returns and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Manages supplier payments, ensuring controls are in place for accurate payments in accordance with agreed terms, and coordinates with stakeholders to address any function-related inquiries.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • CA (Chartered Accountant) or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certifications are preferred.
  • Professional certifications or training related to ancillary services are advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Certifications in Cost Control, Compliance, Budgeting, and Auditing are beneficial.
Work Experience:
  • A minimum of 10 years in corporate finance or accounting, with at least 3 years in the airline industry in a managerial or senior role.
  • Experience in a mid-sized organization operating at a regional or multinational level, preferably within the airline, travel, or tourism sectors.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in applying IFRS standards.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial control and accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills, with a proven ability to identify irregularities and recommend corrective actions.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, with a focus on cost management.
  • Ability to balance technical expertise with interpersonal skills to engage with senior stakeholders and external auditors.
