About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Deputy Store Manager - Sales and Operations, where you will play a crucial role in driving sales and achieving financial objectives. As a key member of our retail team, you will be responsible for maintaining proper loss prevention standards and ensuring compliance with cash handling, fraud, and theft of products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Communicate Store Targets and Drive Sales: Communicate store targets to the team and drive sales to achieve financial objectives.
  • Maintain Loss Prevention Standards: Maintain proper loss prevention standards and ensure compliance with cash handling, fraud, and theft of products.
  • Oversee Point of Sales Activities: Oversee and monitor all point of sales activities in the store, including sales transactions, tracking customer orders and payments, registering sales, and maintaining inventory updates.
  • Manage Cash Transactions: Oversee cash transaction entry and management, including petty cash, point of sales (POS) cash elements, and change floats.
  • Audit Store Administration: Regularly audit own store administration and resolve any issues; assist in carrying out annual stock counts and spot checks.
  • Handle Customer Complaints: Monitor and handle customer complaints and take corrective action in line with policy; resolve customer complaints and respond to feedback in a timely and professional manner.
  • Track and Evaluate Sales Performance: Track and evaluate brand sales performance, research market trends, and competitor trading activities to identify critical business factors and propose action plans to increase sales and profitability.
  • Monitor Sales Reports: Monitor and analyze sales reports and provide insights to maximize stock potential; report on the performance of new and core collections.
  • Maintain Store Displays: Maintain window and in-store displays to a high standard in line with merchandising guidelines.
  • Oversee Inventory Management: Oversee and monitor the inventory management in the store, including stock availability, order management, back store management, and stock movement within the store.
  • Ensure Accurate Stock Management: Ensure accurate stock merchandise and management within the store, including stock ageing, stock loss, and space management.
  • Coordinate with Facilities Department: Coordinate with the facilities department on repairs or replacements of furniture or equipment; support company maintenance standards/programs to optimize asset life.
  • Manage Staffing Levels: Maintain staffing levels consistent with operational needs to ensure exceptional customer service; prepare schedules and ensure adequate shift coverage.
  • Plan for Seasonal Peaks: Ensure that seasonal peaks and important promotional events are taken into account when preparing forecasts and staff rosters.
  • Train Team Members: Ensure that the team is adequately trained in inventory management techniques, including in-bound movement of goods, receiving, stocking, restocking, transfers, and managing inventory discrepancies.
People Management:

As a Deputy Store Manager - Sales and Operations, you will also be responsible for defining goals and key performance indicators for each member of the team and ensuring effective implementation of GMG's performance management process.

  • Develop Talent within the Team: Develop talent within the team by providing guidance, mentoring, and coaching to achieve the defined goals. Drive a culture of feedback and coaching in the Business Unit/Department by providing feedback on an ongoing basis, identifying development needs, and coaching employees on areas of improvement.
