Network Operations Specialist

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are essential but not exhaustive:

  • Oversee network performance, diagnose issues, and execute solutions to guarantee optimal operation.
  • Establish and enforce network security protocols, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls.
  • Collaborate with other IT departments to ensure seamless integration of network systems with various technological components.
  • Lead initiatives related to network improvements to enhance infrastructure and align with business goals.
  • Conduct periodic network evaluations and assessments to pinpoint areas for enhancement.
  • Provide technical assistance and advice to IT colleagues on network-related matters.
  • Remain updated on emerging technologies and best practices in network management.
  • Assist with general system administration duties, including server management, patch updates, and on-call responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
The following qualifications are required but not limited to:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in network management.
  • Preferred advanced certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience with cloud networking concepts and technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.) is preferred.
  • Proficient in network protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, SDWAN, and VPNs.
  • Experience in collaborating with telecom vendors for troubleshooting, ordering, modifying, and disconnecting services.
  • Familiarity with various network hardware from vendors such as Cisco, Meraki, WatchGuard, and SonicWall.
  • Knowledge of network monitoring and management tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting capabilities and the ability to analyze and resolve intricate network challenges.
  • Experience with network security measures and technologies.
  • Familiarity with system administration tasks beyond network management.
  • Understanding of data center hardware, server operating systems, virtualization, and BCDR practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Exceptional focus on customer service is required.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
