Job Summary:

The Electrical Automation Engineer will play a key role in supporting the execution of capital projects, focusing on electrical, controls, and automation engineering. This position will provide oversight of engineering and design execution by Client and third-party resources, ensuring technical support to Client Engineering, Factory engineering, and local Project Management Organization (PMO) engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead Electrical, Controls, and Automation Engineering: Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers to lead electrical, controls, and automation engineering and design for capital projects.
  2. Deliver Engineering and Design Outputs: Execute electrical, controls, and automation engineering and design deliverables, including power distribution single-line diagrams, network topology diagrams, control panel layouts, safety logic tables, and construction specifications.
  3. Develop Project Scopes and Schedules: Develop capital project scopes of work, support the creation of engineering and design project schedules, and create requests for proposal (RFP) for capital project engineering and design services.
  4. Provide Technical Support: Offer technical support for the creation of project engineering and design deliverables executed by Factory engineering, local Project teams, and third-party engineering and design consultants and contractors.
  5. Support RFI's and Commissioning: Support responses to consultant and contractor requests for information (RFI's) during engineering, construction, and commissioning, and provide engineering support to the construction team during construction closeout activities and commissioning activities.
  6. Coach and Train Resources: Provide technical coaching and training of Factory engineering resources, local PMO engineering resources, and third-party consultants on the NPE project execution and electrical and automation requirements.
  7. Review and Approve Drawings: Support the review and approval of project approval drawings and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests.
  8. Maintain Engineering Standards: Maintain working knowledge of Client Engineering ways of working and engineering and design standards and guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field AND 5+ years of experience with control systems design in a food, beverage, or industrial manufacturing environment, including startup & commissioning of new production lines (MUST HAVE). OR Associate's Degree in Engineering or related field AND 7+ years of experience with control systems design in a food, beverage or industrial manufacturing environment, including startup & commissioning of new production lines (MUST HAVE).
  • Skills:
    • Work Autonomously
    • Strong Communication/Writing Capabilities
    • Competency in PLC (Rockwell Automation, Modicon) and PC-Based -HMI/SCADA (iFIX and Ignition) design, programming, and implementation
    • Competency in Safety Instrumented System design, programming, and validation
    • Competency in PC operating systems and Industrial Networking
    • Competency in using Microsoft Office products
    • Ability to work with a cross-functional team of engineers, operations, and maintenance team members
    • Ability to read and interpret control schematics, wiring diagrams, power distribution single-line diagrams
  • Important:
    • Working knowledge of Electrical Safety and Hazardous Energy Control Procedures (HECP)
    • Working knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electric Code), electrical installation and wiring practices
  • Beneficial:
    • Familiarity with machine risk assessments
    • Familiarity with power distribution
    • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Acrobat
    • Competency in Siemens PLC design, programming, and implementation
  • Requirements:
    • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
    • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs. Requires daily walking through a construction site
    • Steel toe shoes are required, and to be provided by the worker at their own expense (job requirement)
