Job Title: Lead Structural Engineer

At Wood, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Structural Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of structural engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Develop design concepts through the detailed design stage, utilizing computational software and hand calculations as appropriate.
  • Structural Engineering Coordination: Coordinate structural engineering with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Technical Specifications: Prepare work scope documents and technical specifications for structural engineering projects.
  • Supplier Evaluation: Evaluate supplier bids for compliance to internal and client specifications and scopes of work.
  • Estimating and Proposals: Support the estimating and proposals teams by preparing preliminary designs, technical write-ups, and specifications for cost estimating purposes.
  • On-Site Inspections: Conduct on-site inspections and troubleshooting investigations as required.
Qualifications:
  • Education: 4-year Civil/Structural Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree desirable.
  • Professional Registration: Registered Professional Engineer with NCEES record.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of US steel design codes, familiarity with other international codes desirable. 10+ years structural design experience as applied to industrial steel structures. Good working knowledge of STAAD or equivalent structural design software essential. Good working knowledge of AutoCAD, familiarity with Revit desirable.
  • Communication Skills: Strong technical writing skills and good verbal communication skills.
