Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Clinical Assistant to join our team at Precision Hire Solution. As a Clinical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our healthcare professionals in providing high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Assist physicians in clinics, including accessing, adding, and modifying patient medical records under their supervision.
  2. Request necessary investigations for patients and assist in the provision of high-quality care to patients and their families under the direction and supervision of physicians/registered nurses/midwives.
  3. Perform a range of skills to meet the needs of patients while promoting dignity, privacy, and respect.
  4. Provide a range of healthcare and non-nursing duties to ensure efficient and effective service to the ward/department at all times.
  5. Assist with administration and non-nursing duties, including performing basic care under the direction of physicians/registered nurses/midwives.
  6. Assist all patients who are able towards independence and activity under the direction of physicians/registered nurses/midwives.
  7. Provide patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials, transporting patients, answering patients' calls and requests, and reporting observations of the patient to the team leader.
  8. Assist patient transfer to other departments and accompany patients who are ready for discharge.
  9. Transport equipment and patient records between departments and support the registered nurse staff and ward clerk in clerical, administrative, and receptionist duties in the ward.
  10. Assist in the maintenance of stocks and non-medical supplies, develop and utilize good communication skills, and receive and pass on telephone messages.
  11. Correctly use aids and equipment supplied for patients and report needs and obvious defects of this equipment to the registered nurse/midwife in charge.
  12. Cover the duties of the ward clerk in absence, advise the registered nurse/midwife in charge of malfunctioning equipment, and liaise with the registered nurse/midwives in charge in the assessment of equipment and medical consumable items requirements.
  13. Ensure appropriate utilization of resources effectively and efficiently, provide positive patient experience through the delivery of high-quality customer service, and identify unsafe care practices and contribute to corrective actions.
  14. Observe and maintain confidentiality of information, data relating to patients, staff, service, and the organization, and escalate identified concerns according to the level of urgency.
  15. Demonstrate an understanding of positive health and promote positive health, ensure continuity of care by updating the physician/midwife in charge of any task procedures and advice given to the patient and his/her family.
  16. Work within the current policies issued by the hospital, reporting any sickness and accidents to the physician/registered nurse/midwife and Nurse Manager, and liaise with nursing colleagues and other professional standards hospital policies and procedures, local requirements, and JCI standards.
  17. Participate in any other duties that may be asked to undertake by physician/Senior nursing staff within the scope of practice, ensure that patients/clients' belongings and valuable items are kept safely, adhering to local procedures, and be able to administer and seek advice on the appropriate measures in an emergency.
  18. Ensure that patient/clients' privacy is maintained, and dignity and freedom of choice are enhanced, report all changes in patients' condition to the physician/registered nurse/midwife, and maintain knowledge, skills, and accept responsibility for owned education and career development.
  19. Attend in-service training, other training programs, and meetings as required, set goals and standards for self-improvement, process clear understanding and commitment to NMC policy, and accepts and recognizes the legal limitations and ethical parameters of the role.
  20. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills, demonstrate flexibility in meeting work demands and able to work as a team, demonstrate understanding of cultural differences, takes direction from the registered nurse/midwife in problem-solving, maintains confidentiality at all times, be informed on health & safety regulations affecting the unit in which they work, have full knowledge of fire precautions and regulations, and be familiar with all types of Hospital codes and know how to telephone for emergency services.
  21. The Clinical Assistant will also be expected to contribute to the wider corporate and organizational development needs as appropriate within the scope of service, ensure compliance with the requirement of the health and safety regulations of the hospital, meet work demands and is able to follow directions accurately, and perform any other duty as required by line manager that commensurate with the post.
  22. Prepare patient for examination by Doctor, assist Doctor and Registered nurse/midwife in certain procedures, ensure that all procedures and investigations are charged, ensure clinics are clean and clinical waste is managed as per hospital/DOH guidelines, ensures treatment rooms are cleaned after each procedure is completed, cleans used instruments as necessary before sending the instruments to CSSD for sterilization, cleans used equipment after every use and dates/signs clean equipment tag, maintains inventory of all clinical trays and surgical instruments stored in doctors room and treatment room, and assist in Outpatient clinics where required, flexible in assignment when directed by Registered Nurse/Midwives in charge.
