Key Responsibilities:
  • Assessing new credit applications and performing thorough client credit evaluations.
  • Administering and recovering debts from company clients.
  • Establishing credit terms for new customers.
  • Overseeing the collection of all payments and outstanding debts.
  • Addressing client inquiries effectively.
  • Handling invoice processing.
  • Preparing financial statements and reports for the accounting department.
  • Managing sales accounting and conducting monthly reconciliations.
  • Collaborating with customers and the sales team.
  • Developing and monitoring a credit control framework in partnership with sales, marketing, finance, and executive team members.
  • Implementing policies that adhere to customer service best practices while ensuring timely payment submissions from clients.
  • Reviewing consumer credit reports, making approval or denial decisions, and communicating these promptly to relevant personnel.
  • Maintaining records of credit limits, conducting regular assessments of the credit control system, and making necessary adjustments.
  • Reporting any payment discrepancies to management or the appropriate team.
  • Following up on overdue invoices and payments, enforcing company collection procedures as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Credit Controller or in a similar capacity within a retail environment.
  • Strong grasp of credit control procedures and accounting principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; familiarity with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.


Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance and accounting.
  • Prior experience as a credit controller.
  • Proficient in accounting and office software.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience working with distributors in the Baby Products/FMCG sector or manufacturing.
  • 4-5 years of relevant experience.
