Job Title: Designer - Geosyntec Consultants Inc

Geosyntec Consultants Inc is seeking a highly skilled Designer to join our team in Dubai, UAE. As a Designer, you will be responsible for performing computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) for various coastal marine and structural engineering design projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft, edit, and finalize design plans and details using appropriate and efficient methods and adhering to Geosyntec drafting standards.
  • Understand and visualize overall civil/geotechnical engineering concepts such as grading and translating abstract concepts to design drawings.
  • Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to determine the best approach to complete a drawing set.
  • Manage the production of drawing sets from creation, markup, and modification based on overall design.
  • Assign work to mentor, train, and supervise CADD technicians in the preparation of design drawings and details and reviewing completed work products to ensure quality.
  • Assist with CAD department management tasks, including estimating the level of effort for CAD-related work and assisting in the development of file management standards.
  • Participate in the CAD Action Group by supporting networking and collaborating to improve CAD standards and efficiencies across the company.
  • Work collaboratively with other Geosyntec CADD practitioners to prepare design drawings and details and reviewing completed work products to ensure quality.
Requirements:
  • Associates degree in Drafting and a minimum of five (5) years related experience in a professional civil engineering setting, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the responsibilities of the position.
  • Proficiency in Revit design software.
  • Experience developing and working with grading plans, cross-sections, alignments, profiles, three-dimensional surfaces, and earthwork volumes for marine and other large civil design projects.
  • Experience using/incorporating land or aerial surveying/mapping data and files.
  • Experience with stormwater management design.
  • Understanding of the latest releases of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe PDF, and Windows File Explorer.
  • Experience with ArcGIS and MicroStation.
  • Proficiency in the latest releases of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and AutoCAD Map3D, including a strong understanding of Civil 3D Annotation styles and annotation tools, object and label styles, solid understanding of key objects such as Surfaces, Alignments, Profiles, Profile Views, Pipe Networks, Surface Analyses, and Volume Calculations.
  • Understanding of Feature Lines, Grading Groups, Assemblies, and Corridors.
  • Working interoperability knowledge of ESRI ArcMap or equivalent GIS software with the aforementioned software.
  • Ability to work with mathematical fundamentals such as geometry and trigonometry and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical engineering design situations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret red line drawings from Engineers, CAD Managers, or other members of the project team.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions and the ability to interact effectively to maintain a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively present information to project team and clients.
