Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Facilities Repair Expert to join our team at IHG Hotels & Resorts. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of guest rooms and resolving any technical issues that may arise. You will perform daily inspections of guest rooms and carry out repairs and maintenance work as required.

Your primary focus will be on providing exceptional service to our guests by ensuring their rooms are clean, safe, and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform daily inspections of guest rooms to ensure proper functioning of all equipment, lighting, plumbing, and furniture
• Carry out repairs and maintenance work for any room-related issues, including electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, and general room upkeep
• Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and resolve issues efficiently to minimize guest disruption
• Ensure rooms are prepared and maintained in excellent condition before guest check-in
• Assist in maintaining an organized inventory of tools, spare parts, and supplies needed for room repairs
• Follow all safety guidelines and protocols when performing repairs and maintenance tasks

Requirements
• Previous experience in hotel maintenance or a related field preferred
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and general maintenance procedures
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a guest-oriented attitude
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Skills
• Electrical Repairs: Fixing electrical issues such as malfunctioning lights, switches, or power outlets in guest rooms
• Plumbing Troubleshooting: Addressing issues related to sinks, toilets, showers, and faucets, including leaks or clogs
• HVAC System Maintenance: Ensuring that heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are functioning properly and maintaining a comfortable room environment for guests
• Appliance Repair: Repairing or troubleshooting in-room appliances like televisions, minibars, refrigerators, hairdryers, and coffee makers
• Carpentry and Basic Construction: Handling minor repairs or touch-ups related to furniture, doors, and windows

Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting
• Diagnosing Issues: Identifying problems with in-room amenities or equipment and determining the best course of action to repair or resolve them quickly
• Providing Immediate Solutions: If a technical issue arises during a guest's stay, the technician must address it promptly and find temporary or permanent solutions without disrupting the guest experience

Preventive Maintenance
• Routine Inspections: Performing regular inspections of room systems and equipment to prevent breakdowns, ensure functionality, and address any minor issues before they escalate
• Record Keeping: Documenting maintenance tasks, including repairs, inspections, and part replacements, and ensuring that records are updated accurately
• Scheduled Maintenance: Performing scheduled tasks like replacing air filters, cleaning equipment, and checking for wear and tear

Guest Interaction
• Professional and Courteous Communication: Interacting with guests when necessary, addressing concerns or requests related to room issues (e.g., temperature, malfunctioning devices), and offering friendly service
• Minimizing Guest Disruption: Ensuring that any maintenance work in occupied rooms is performed at convenient times for the guest, and completing tasks as quietly and efficiently as possible

Health and Safety Compliance
• Adhering to Safety Protocols: Ensuring all work is completed according to safety standards, including safe handling of tools, chemicals, and equipment
• Guest Room Safety: Addressing potential safety hazards in the room, such as faulty wiring, broken glass, or fire hazards
• Emergency Response: Knowing how to respond to emergencies, such as power outages, plumbing issues that could lead to flooding, or safety concerns in guest rooms

Inventory and Equipment Management
• Tool Management: Keeping an organized inventory of tools and maintenance supplies required to perform repairs and maintenance tasks
• Equipment Stock Control: Ensuring that replacement parts and necessary equipment (e.g., light bulbs, batteries, or plumbing parts) are available and replenished when necessary
