Civil Structural Inspector Job Description

GHD is seeking a highly skilled Civil Structural Inspector to join our team. As a key member of our construction supervision team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all civil and structural work meets the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Civil/Structural Engineer in performing contractual duties onsite.
  • Interface with the public to mitigate construction impacts.
  • Oversee and inspect all civil & structural work to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and quality control standards.
  • Collaborate with contractors to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Monitor and coordinate all contractors' activities for this discipline.
  • Perform works inspection requests and material inspection requests on a daily basis.
  • Support the Civil/Structural Engineer in reviewing construction submittals.
  • Collaborate with construction management to eliminate hazards associated with the work.
  • Review and interpret design drawings and specifications to ensure current revision level and correct technical execution of the work.
  • Provide resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline(s).
  • Monitor material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline.
  • Ensure that materials received meet specifications and established standards of quality.
  • Organize the accumulation of assigned discipline data for the final project turnover and report.
  • Initiate and maintain records, backcharge procedures, progress reports, etc., as required.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Min of 5 years postgraduate experience on large scale projects.
  • Revit & Other software packages is an advantage.
  • Regional experience.
  • ADM & DM registration is preferred.
  • A professional who can manage and coordinate specialized activity, discipline or team of moderate size and complexity.
  • Pro-active in resolving issues.
  • Good communication skills & relationship building.
