Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Civil and Structural Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, particularly in the Oil and Gas industry.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the study and preparation of site development plans, including earthwork calculations, and preparation of BoQs related to earthworks (excavation and backfill) under the direction of the Lead Civil / Structural Engineer.
  • Responsible for designing underground networks (storm water, sanitary water, oily water, etc.).
  • Ensure all assigned activities are carried out within stipulated man-hour budgets and time schedules.
  • Assist in the preparation of project-related standards and job notes on assigned projects.
  • Perform engineering design calculations and prepare design sketches as required on assigned projects.
  • Review, comment on, and approve drawings related to his field of activity.
  • Review and comment on supplier and other discipline drawings.
  • Attend progress meetings and assist in the preparation of project progress reports.
  • Advise supervising engineers of any slippages and their causes and proposed corrective action and any technical problems and unresolved differences with other groups.
  • Assist in the preparation of contract requisitions and schedules of quantity for Underground Utilities work on assigned projects.
  • Liaise with construction personnel and address site queries during construction.
  • Perform such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the lead or supervising Civil Engineer.
  • Perform all assigned work to agreed standards for safety, health, environment, and demonstrate a commitment to attaining high levels of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) performance.
  • Participate in and advise on all design activities and initiatives, including provision of training/ inductions and documentation review.
  • Verify that all designs are to required standards, that the objectives of the project are met, and that the work is completed to the agreed schedule.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 10 years' minimum industrial experience.
  • Experience in High Sour Gas projects is preferred.
  • Membership of a professional body and Chartered Engineer is highly desired. This should also include a demonstration of ongoing commitment to that body through Continuous Professional development (CPD).
  • The candidate will have considerable experience in Civil Engineering, especially in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • The candidate must be experienced in EPC organizations in the field of Engineering Design/ FEED projects in all aspects of Civil and Structural activities.
  • Candidate will be fully familiar with terminology used and adopted in the Oil and Gas business.
  • Candidate will have a range of technical abilities, from the use of engineering and design software such as STAADPro/GTSTRUDL, through to understanding of topographical, geophysical, and geotechnical issues.
  • The candidate shall be conversant and comfortable in engineering with any materials normally understood and used by Civil and Structural engineers.
  • The successful candidate can bring, at appropriate times, innovation to the engineering process from their background.
