Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safe work practices and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Collaborate with maintenance team members to achieve an accident-free workplace through the use of collaborative tools and processes.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of heavy vehicle maintenance procedures and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Recommend plant site work execution preparation steps to ensure flawless operation of heavy vehicle shop.
  • Ensure the safety culture and behaviors are consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Aid in monitoring maintenance activities to ensure the security and safety of all worksite personnel by providing safe and reliable heavy vehicles.
  • Increase competency of heavy vehicle maintenance through training and development programs.
  • Communicate effectively with the Workshop Manager/Maintenance Coordinator on equipment performance and workload to ensure maintenance downtime does not excessively impact on day-to-day operations.

Qualifications:

  • Certified to PNG or Australian Standards for auto mechanics and/or diesel fitting trade.
  • Vehicle repair accreditation.
  • 5 years' experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanical Fitter.
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar heavy equipment diagnostic and servicing requirements.
  • Vehicle repair accreditation.
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Team building skills.
  • 5 years minimum experience as a heavy equipment maintenance mechanic.
  • Trained and certified to PNG/Australian standards for auto mechanics.
  • Appropriate certification and documented experience in the operation of other heavy equipment.
  • Vehicle repair accreditation.
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Team building skills.
