About the Opportunity

Hosco is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Culinary Trainee to join our team at Don Julio Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar in Orlando, Florida. As a Culinary Trainee, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, preparing a variety of dishes and learning from experienced chefs.

Responsibilities
  1. Food Preparation: Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
  2. Recipe Execution: Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications set by the restaurant.
  3. Inventory Management: Restock all items as needed throughout the shift.
  4. Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean and maintain station while practicing exceptional safety, sanitation, and organizational skills.
  5. Equipment Maintenance: Understand and know how to use and maintain all station equipment properly.
  6. Assistance: Assist with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen.
  7. Additional Responsibilities: Perform additional responsibilities as requested by the Chef or Kitchen Manager at any time.
  8. Food Preparation Tools: Prepare food: Meat, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and cold food items.
  9. Food Storage: Cover, date, and correctly store all food preparation items.
  10. Closing Protocol: Close the kitchen correctly and follow the closing protocol made per station.
Benefits
  1. Projected Monthly Income: $2,240 (Hourly wage: $14)
  2. Housing and Transportation: Projected costs for housing and transportation: $900 (The employer provides housing alternatives for $700)

J1 Visa Program

This traineeship is part of a J1 visa program intended for young professionals or recent graduates to propel their careers, gain work experience, and improve their skills through cultural exchange. The J1 Visa process and application fees have a total cost of $1,870, breakdown as follows:

  1. First payment due upon signing contract: $420 (non-refundable)
  2. Last payment due upon visa approval: $1,450 (includes $650 of mandatory health insurance)

Disclaimer: The first month of housing has to be paid by the candidate in advance. The employer does not cover the airfare cost, which will vary depending on the candidate's city of departure.

About You

To be eligible for a J1 Visa, you must meet the following requirements:

  1. You're between the ages of 18 to 35 years old.
  2. You graduated from an accredited institution, hold a degree related to the job position, and have at least 12 months of professional experience - OR - You're a young professional with at least 5 years of work experience in the field of interest.
  3. English Proficiency: Intermediate

Language required: English. Spanish is a plus.
