Job Title: Senior Pipeline Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Pipeline Engineer to join our team at oilandgas. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to our operating plants and pipeline projects.

Job Purpose:

The primary purpose of this role is to provide engineering support and technical expertise to our pipeline discipline through all phases of project implementation. You will act as a subject matter expert for pipeline (offshore and onshore) and participate in project implementation, peer reviews, and other business units/areas.

Key Accountabilities:
  1. Ensure that pipeline engineering work is progressed efficiently to maintain schedule without compromising on quality in accordance with contract requirements and good engineering practices.
  2. Provide technical input to the decision-making process for major/strategic decisions affecting the selection and procurement of major pipeline/pipeline material.
  3. Review and approve drawings, specifications, data sheets, and other technical documents related to pipeline engineering for all project stages.
  4. Technical authority and responsible person to review and approve design change authorization (DCA) request forms, deviations from standard practices or codes, and contract trend notices (CTN) on piping/pipeline-related issues.
  5. Establish performance measures and individual personal development plans (PDPs) against which pipeline engineering youth program members are assessed.
  6. Ensure effective implementation of company health, safety, and environmental policy, procedures, regulations, and objectives.
  7. Keep abreast of industry latest practices and new technological products, including evaluation of new technology and introduction of international good practice.
  8. Participate in the development and management of division annual budget and prepare yearly overhead budgets for the department.
  9. Provide subject matter expert support for company competency evaluation programs, including inter-OPCO/ADNOC developments.
  10. Lead the investigation of technical and commercial aspects of project work related to piping/pipeline systems and plants.
  11. Participate in the update and maintenance of ADNOC technical specifications and guidelines for piping/pipeline-related activities and piping/pipeline materials.
  12. Participate in various project workshops, including design reviews, plot plan reviews, 3D model reviews, HAZOP, HAZID, PHSSER, constructability reviews, material handling study reviews, risk assessment reviews, value engineering reviews, etc.
  13. Screen CVs and participate in interviews for selection of candidates for key project positions, such as lead discipline engineers of contractors/consultants and PMC/third-party consultants.
  14. Provide peer reviewer for all piping/pipeline-related studies and modifications carried out by asset engineering or pre-project teams.
  15. Review and endorse tender and contract documents related to piping/pipeline projects.
  16. Participate in factory acceptance tests and conclude the acceptance of critical piping/pipeline components.

  1. Plan and supervise the activities of personnel and resources of the team to achieve department objectives in an efficient and cost-conscious manner.
  2. Develop knowledge, competencies, and innovative spirit in the team and support the establishment of personal development plans (PDPs), succession planning, and talent pipeline within the team.
Budgets and Operational Plans:
  1. Compile and provide input for the preparation of department budgets and regularly monitor expenditure against approved team budget levels.
  2. Investigate, highlight, and reconcile any significant variances to ensure effective performance and cost control.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures:
  1. Lead the implementation of approved team policies, processes, systems, quality standards, procedures, and internal controls in support of execution of division work programs.
Performance Management:
  1. Implement the company performance management system for individuals within the team in accordance with company-approved guidelines.
Organisation Structure and Development:
  1. Review, develop, and recommend the appropriate organisation structure for the team that will best utilise human capital.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
  1. Encourage innovation, enhance employee motivation, and support initiatives for implementation of change management to continuously improve operations and services.
  2. Propose improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability:
  1. Support the institution of an HSE culture and ensure compliance with relevant HSE policies, procedures, systems & controls, and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines.
  2. Ensure adequate HSE training and induction for all team employees.
Communications & Working Relationships:
  1. Reporting to the Manager Technical Support Eng.
  2. Regular contacts with all engineers and TLs within the Technical Centre to discuss key issues, project activities, and respective discipline involvement and contribution.
  3. Regular contacts with Team Leaders from other divisions to exchange information/expertise and coordination.
  4. Regular contacts with Project Managers, leaders, and Project Engineering Team Leaders to ensure engineering quality and timely support to running activities.
  5. Frequent communications with Senior Management through Manager Technical Support.
  6. Works according to company-established procedures and technical standards.
