- **Brake and Suspension Systems**: Inspect, repair, and replace brake pads, drums, calipers, and other components of the braking system. Also, inspect and repair suspension components as needed.
- **Engine Maintenance**: Perform engine diagnostics, tune-ups, and repairs, including fuel system adjustments, valve adjustments, and cylinder head repairs.
- **Electrical Systems**: Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, batteries, alternators, and starter motors.
- **Welding and Fabrication**: Conduct welding and fabrication work to repair or modify vehicle chassis, frames, and body components.
- **Vehicle Inspections**: Conduct regular inspections and safety checks on HGVs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and roadworthiness.

**Qualifications**:

- **Technical Training**: Completion of a relevant vocational training program or apprenticeship in heavy vehicle mechanics.
- **Certifications**: Possession of relevant certifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualifications.
- **Experience**: Previous experience working as an HGV mechanic or in a similar role within the automotive industry.
- **Knowledge**: Strong understanding of heavy vehicle systems, components, and diagnostic techniques.
- **Problem-Solving Skills**: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues effectively.
- **Attention to Detail**: Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate diagnosis and quality repairs.
