The HSE officer will be independently responsible to provide services to prevent accidents, injuries, and work-related illnesses at the workplace. Responsible for remaining 100% compliant with the government rules by creating and implementing health and safety policies as per the legislation and ensuring that these policies are implemented and followed. Independently ensuring the health, safety, security, and well-being of all personnel, visitors, and the company premises.
- Developing, maintaining, and implementing HSE initiatives and programs consistent with HSE plans, legislative requirements, and best practices.
- Periodically inspecting, and testing firefighting equipment like fire hoses, alarms, lifesaving equipment, fire hydrants, monitors, isolation valves, and couplings to ensure they are working and ready to use condition. Monitoring preventive maintenance & inspection of equipment.
- Recording maintenance & updating fire and safety equipment maintenance, inspection, testing, and inventory.
- Managing and being engaged in rescue, firefighting, and emergency activities with the proper use of fire, safety, and lifesaving equipment and systems.
- Maintaining up-to-date compliance documents in line with guidelines of civil defense and other government authorities. Being accountable and representing external parties on HSE matters.
- Checking work locations for repair and maintenance and issuing work permits and PPE to the workers.
- Available 24X7 and responsibly report and act in case of fire and other emergencies onsite.
- Monitoring all the Health and Safety aspects for the third-party contractors for any short-term /long-term projects - civil, mechanical, electrical, etc. of the company.
- Monitoring maintenance of the personnel safety equipment like breathing apparatus, fire suits, portable gas monitors, safety harnesses, and protective personal equipment.
- Conducting in-house practical training on the use of fire safety & lifesaving and evacuation equipment.
- Planning and conducting mock drills covering different emergencies related to fire, spill, medical, natural disaster, etc., and preparing reports on findings and suggestions.
- Preparing health and safety operating procedures, and emergency plans, and conducting risk analysis. Understanding health and safety hazards and proactively providing warnings and training to the employees.
- Managing pest control activities in the entire company premises. Participating in housekeeping campaigns and leading the implementation of waste segregation & disposal practices. Managing waste disposal including hazardous, food, sewerage, chemical, and IT waste as per the local government guidelines.
- Actively participate in HSE and other audits. Maintaining all the relevant documents required for the audits. Ensuring the audits are conducted on time and reports are submitted to the Management.
- Conducting regular plant rounds and noting the HSE deviations. Conducting the toolbox talks, and training the employees and contracted staff. Maintaining records of HSE training.
- Supervising all the activities related to the employees and premises security. Inducting the contracted staff and checking the daily observation reports, vehicle movement, employee movement, etc.
- Maintaining valid permits/certificates/documents related to HSE, waste disposal, HFZA Inspection, Water test certificates, Pest control, Sewerage, etc., and monitoring related activities.
- Understanding and maintaining all HSE-related documentation, audit reports, certifications, training, etc., and representing in external audits.
- Monitoring security department functions and ensuring proper security of company premises is maintained all the time. Conducting security assessments and providing suggestions.
- Communicating between injured employees, management, and medical providers to ensure that all parties are aware of rights, responsibilities, and recovery plans.
- Preparing incident reports and submit to the concerned department in case of incidents related to employees. Conduct regular workplace inspections, company vehicle inspections, risk assessments, and audits. Prepare monthly HSE reports and maintain data for sites.
- Closely monitoring activities onsite, immediately reporting any non-conformity or unsafe act. Complying with all reasonable instructions from management and using safety equipment and promoting safety.
- Protect the company's assets relative to theft, assault, fire, and other safety and security issues.
- Maintaining safety for all staff and visitors and providing them with safety induction and safety pamphlets.
- Monitoring the fire alarm system and acting promptly in event of a fire, spillage, accident, or damage.
- Following procedures for various initiatives, including fire prevention, property patrol, traffic control, and accident investigations.
