We are looking for an energetic Student Life and Athletic Officer to join the American University in the Emirates. The Student Life and Athletic Officer is responsible for the development, coordination, and management of all athletic programs, events, and initiatives at the university. This role ensures that athletic teams are well-organized, athletic events run smoothly, and students are encouraged to participate in sports and fitness activities. Additionally, the officer will oversee athletic scholarships and organize an annual recognition ceremony to honor athletic achievements.


**Qualifications & Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in organizing athletic events, managing sports teams, or a similar role in a university setting.
- Experience managing athletic scholarships and working with student-athletes.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to athletics.
- Experience managing budgets and coordinating events.
- Preferably Bilingual (speaks English and Arabic fluently)
- Working knowledge of UAE higher education sector

**Responsibilities**:

- **Athletic Event Management**: Plan, organize, and execute all athletic events and sports competitions, both on and off-campus, ensuring smooth operations and positive experiences for all participants.
- **Team Management**: Oversee the recruitment, development, and coordination of university sports teams. This includes managing team schedules, practices, uniforms, and equipment needs.
- **Competitions and Tournaments**: Organize and manage inter-university and intra-university sports competitions and tournaments, including handling logistics, participant registration, and communication with other institutions.
- **Tryouts and Talent Development**: Facilitate team tryouts, ensuring fair selection processes, and support coaches in identifying and developing athletic talent among students.
- **Student Engagement**: Promote student participation in sports and wellness activities by creating and publicizing opportunities for involvement.
- **Athletic Scholarships**: Manage the process for awarding athletic scholarships, including working with relevant departments to identify eligible students, ensuring adherence to scholarship criteria, and maintaining records of awarded scholarships.
- **Athletics Recognition Ceremony**: Plan and coordinate an annual recognition ceremony to celebrate student-athletes' achievements, team accomplishments, and outstanding contributions to the athletics program.
- **Collaboration**: Work closely with coaches, team captains, and the Student Life department to support athletic programs and ensure alignment with the university’s mission.
- **Budgeting and Sponsorship**: Assist in developing and managing budgets and securing sponsors for athletic programs, including the allocation of scholarship funds and planning for the recognition ceremony.
- **Compliance and Safety**: Ensure that all athletic activities comply with university policies and health and safety regulations.
- **Liaison**: Serve as a point of contact for student-athletes, addressing concerns and providing guidance on balancing academics and athletics.
- **Event Promotion**: Collaborate with the university's media and marketing team to promote athletic events and activities.
- **Facilities and Equipment**: Coordinate the use and maintenance of sports facilities and athletic equipment.
