**What the role entails**

As a Digital Fabrication Consultant, you will play a crucial role in providing expert advice, guidance, and support to our community of makers, creators, artists and enthusiasts. Your deep knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD), 3D printing, laser cutting and CNC routing will empower our members to explore their creativity and achieve exceptional results in their related projects.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Architecture, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in digital fabrication methods and processes such as 3D printing/additive manufacturing, laser cutting and CNC routing.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) and 3D modeling software.
- Strong understanding of computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) principles and experience with CAM software.
- Hands-on experience in additive manufacturing/3D printing processes such as FDM, SLA & SLS.
- Experience with 3D printing software for slicing and preparing models for 3D printing (e.g., Cura, PrusaSlicer, IdeaMaker).
- Hands-on experience in subtractive manufacturing processes such as CNC milling.
- Ability to understand and modify G-code for CNC machines.
- Hands-on experience in laser cutting and engraving of various materials.
- Scripting skills for task automation and workflow enhancement using languages like Python and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git for managing and versioning design files and code is desired.
- Basic knowledge of electronics for projects involving embedded systems or IoT, including experience with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and basic circuit design is desired.
- Knowledge in open-source hardware and software is desired.
- Knowledge of parametric design principles and experience with parametric design tools such as Grasshopper (for Rhino) is desired.

**Responsibilities**:

- Deliver lessons covering digital design and fabrication topics.
- Support in the development of Project Base Workshops tailored for different skill levels, such as workshops in 3D printing, laser cutting and CNC milling.
- Support in the development of digital design and fabrication workshops.
- Stay updated on emerging trends in digital technology and incorporate them into teaching.
- Teach the usage of CAD software for digital design and fabrication.
- Evaluate and critique participants’ work to provide constructive feedback and guidance.
- Collaborate with other disciplines, such as electronics, ceramics, metalwork, and woodworking to explore cross-disciplinary projects and foster a creative environment.
- Assist members in the development of their digital design and fabrication projects.

Actively engage with members, share knowledge, and promote collaboration and inspiration.

**Health, Safety, and Environment**
- Inspect and maintain tools and equipment regularly.
- Provide training on the safe use of equipment.
- Enforce proper safety protocols when using machinery or tools.
- Enforce the use of appropriate PPE, such as safety glasses, gloves, or hearing protection.
- Encourage the responsible use and disposal of materials.
