**Citizens School Leader of Inclusion and Wellbeing Position**

**About the Role**

The leader of Inclusion and Wellbeing will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and will work in conjunction with the school Principal to ensure that the school is fully inclusive, championing the talents and needs of all learners. The postholder will also create a culture where people of determination, inclusion and diversity are at the heart of all systems, processes, and actions.

The Leader of Inclusion and Wellbeing is responsible for supporting the strategic direction and development of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision and inclusion, and the overall development of the Learning Support Assistants.**_ _**They will promote efficient and effective strategy and leadership as well as being well versed in the School’s Inclusion Policy to ensure that pupils with special educational needs are able to be fully included in all aspects of the school regardless of Special Educational Needs (SEN) or disability.

The Leader of Inclusion and Wellbeing will also provide professional guidance to colleagues throughout the school to secure the highest quality of teaching and implement the effective use of resources and interventions to bring about improved standards of achievement of all SEN pupils.

Head of Primary and the Principal.

The post holder will be expected to match the characteristics described in the Professional and Pastoral expectations and will be required to exercise their professional skills and judgement to perform duties in a collaborative manner as set out below:
**Core Responsibilities**:
**Subject Knowledge**
- Model and take responsibility for promoting high standards of communication, collaboration, curiosity, and creativity.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the development of reading, writing and math's in a Primary setting, and how to enhance these throughout a thematic curriculum.

**Curriculum Design and Adaptation**
- Plan, create and develop exciting and engaging learning opportunities that enhance knowledge, skills and learning habits in all areas of the curriculum.
- Plan learning that considers the National Curriculum and considers how to extend learning opportunities by implementing the six strands of the Citizens Futures Framework.
- Clearly plan for students of all abilities, accounting for those who need support or challenge by making sure that lessons are tailored to the needs of all students.
- Use internal tracking systems to monitor and report on progress.
- Communicate clearly and regularly with parents with regards to learning, including mindset, wellbeing, and holistic progress.

**Learning and Teaching**
- Embrace the school’s approach to inclusion and innovation.
- Create and nurture a positive and inclusive learning environment which supports high expectations and a purposeful atmosphere.
- Treat students with respect, building relationships always rooted in trust and observing proper boundaries appropriate to a teacher’s professional position.
- Promote a love of learning and children’s intellectual curiosity.
- Ensure that all learning is engaging and responds to the needs of students, considering their pace of learning, their interests, and their need for choice.
- Support all children to behave with integrity, respect and compassion.
- Understand the importance of a smooth transition between year groups and classes.
- Place children central to the purpose of learning.

- Promote the general progress and well-being of all students and report concerns where appropriate.
- Provide guidance and advice to students on educational, pastoral, and social matters.
- Ensure that students experience an educational program that is personalized to their needs, developing their skills and abilities.
- Ensure that lessons are appropriately planned, delivered, and reviewed.
- Assess, record and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students in line with school policy.
- Ensure positive behavior for learning for all students in line with the school’s policy.
- Provide an effective role model for students in terms of your own professional practice.
