**Laboratory Manager**

Position Summary:
Laboratory Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a laboratory. He should ensure that all testing and analysis is performed according to established protocols, and is also involved in developing new methods or techniques for analyzing samples.

They are responsible for equipment management which involves installation, calibration, verification and maintenance, Sample and Inventory management.

They should also be involved in quality control and comply to 17025 standard, vendor management and customer service.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Testing**:

- Oversee daily operations of the lab by managing a team of analysts
- Ensure testing and analysis is performed as per protocol
- Provide support to the lab by taking over testing of samples that exhibits or require special handling
- Handle all testing related queries and provide analysis clarification to the lab. Review the tested results against specification limit and identify any suspect for repeat testing. Where needed, undertake such repeat testing to verify consistency in testing
- Verify and sign all the datasheets, and confirming in the AIRTABLE system
- Testing and verifying of new test method before introducing to the laboratory, and Support method validation by conducting tests for laboratory developed methods
- Carry of measurement uncertainty
- **QA/QC**:

- Coordinate and compile all robin, PTP results and submit in the SQC system, ASTM portal etc
- Verification of technical records, QC datasheets, worksheets, lab test data sheets
- Ensure repeat confirmation if requested is done in a timely manner, entered into the system and inform the shift In-charge so that the report does not get delayed
- Check validity of results as per procedure
- Ensure that laboratory analysts comply with the data and information recording procedures
- Ensure samples received at the laboratory are recorded accurately and verified before handing over to the laboratory for testing
- Evaluate new hires by conducting competency assessment to ensure standard test procedure is followed and maintain training records
- **Equipment, Inventory & Sample Management**:

- Facilitate laboratory environmental conditions and periodic monitoring and initiate corrective actions for adversely affected test or calibration results
- Practice proper handling and storage of hazardous waste as defined in the Hazardous Waste Plan, so as not to adversely affect laboratory operations
- Ensure all lab required licensing is done and records maintained
- Ensure maintenance of fire alarm systems, firefighting devices, emergency exit, emergency showers, eye wash and medical first aid box
- Overseeing Installation, Calibration, verification, labelling and maintenance of measuring equipment and keeping record of all calibration in ERMS
- Monitor purchasing, verification and validity of CRM and update in ERMS
- Protection of equipment from inadvertent changes in setting through password protection or any other suitable means
- Assessment of vendor evaluation and re-evaluation
- Ensure sample storage, retrieval of sample and disposal of sample is carefully monitored including the samples in the lab and are duly moved to the storage through the sample management software
- Samples, reagents are brought in and taken to the storage following proper safety procedure
- Manage storage and disposal of tested samples, non-conforming samples after the contracted retention period is over
- Coordinate with the approved waste disposal company to make arrangements for collection of waste solvent samples that are due for disposal

Requirement:

- Minimum Bachelor's in chemistry or related field
- Minimum 5 years' experience in similar position
- Previous experience in Laboratory testing is an advantage
- Knowledge in Fuel and Lube Oil testing
- Experience in handling large sample volume
