The Role

Essential
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Have an excellent understanding of teaching and learning.
- Have a proven track record of excellent classroom and pedagogical practice.
- Experience of teaching GCSE/IGCSE and A-Level courses.
- Have a broad knowledge of assessment methodology.
- Have a proven record of raising attainment and improving progress.
- Be able to interpret student level data.
- Be highly proficient in the use of technology to support teaching and learning.
- Be a positive and enthusiastic Leader with a ‘growth mindset’.
- Have excellent communications skills.
- Have previous experience in a position of responsibility (not necessarily as a Head of Department).
- Be willing to be fully involved in extra-curricular activities.

Desirable
- Experience of the requirements of the IB Diploma.
- Experience of using Google suite, e.g. Google classroom.
- Ability to ‘drill’ down on whole school and student level data to direct change.
- Ability to direct change management.
- Understand curriculum design and the concept of developing an aspirational, cumulative curriculum.
- Take responsibility for leading the development and resourcing of the curriculum in collaboration with other heads of department.
- Excellent people management skills.
- Be a reflective leader with the ability to think creatively and innovate.
- Have experience of leading a department.
