Chief Mechanic

**Job Summary**:the Rig Mechanic inspects, services and recovers machinery and drilling equipment like engines, motors, pumps, winches, pneumatic, hydraulic and rig moving mechanisms.

**Responsibilities**:Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Personally responsible for own safety and conducting ones self to the standards of Hilong Policies and Procedures
- Carry out all duties in the safest possible manner and ensure that personal protective equipment (PPE) is used correctly
- Take personal responsibility for, and demonstrate leadership in, HSE. Play a leading role in safety meetings and the safety program
- Supervise the activities of the Rig Welder
- Enact the planned maintenance program for rig machinery and mechanical equipment, including mobile equipment
- Work with the Driller and other crew members to ensure that the rig is operated in accordance within the design parameters and in conformance with all aspects of Hilong HSE-MS
- Conduct visual, and where possible functional, inspections of equipment both prior to use and at periodic intervals
- Take responsibility for planned maintenance, certification, record-keeping and reporting
- Maintain all required records, documentation and certification of machinery, mechanical and fire fighting equipment for rig and camp and produce accurate and timely reports on use of this equipment
- Ensure that lock-out and tag-out procedures are fully complied with at rig site and campsite
- Maintain and update all rig and camp drawings and diagrams
- Supervise the dismantling, packaging and preparation of mechanical equipment for rig moves, including re-assembly at new locations
- Establish a culture of continuous improvement in operations and demonstrate results in this regard. Work with the other members of the rig crew to develop improved practices which will positively impact on rig performance
- Manage, in conjunction with the Warehouseman, the inventory of spares and replacement parts for mechanical equipment and initiate material requests and material transfers as required
- Conduct routine maintenance and scheduled overhauls of rig prime movers, and make recommendations for improved practices
- Prepare the rig and camp equipment for stacking out, when required, in accordance with the provisions of the HSE-MS and contribute to preparation of the stack-out report
- Make provisions for utilities (air, water, fuel, etc.) to meet third party service companies’ requirements at rig site and provide emergency repairs to their equipment where possible
- Provide on-the-job training for the Welder and MOTOR MAN.
- Maintain the validity of personal certification and training together for the Motor man
- Ensure understanding of, and compliance with, HILONG permit to work system
- Participate in emergency drills as schedule by the rig as a member of emergency team
- Participate in the Safety Training Observation Program (STOP)
- Report all accidents, incident, near misses to your direct supervisor in a timely manner
- Participate in Safety trainings
- Develops and implements Analyses and prepares risk assessments for mechanical tasks; implements applicable control measures including using Stop Work Authority.

**Job Specifications**:
**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Minimum five years experience as a Mechanic.
- Relevant Certification.
- Comply with HSE policies and procedures.
- Complete all Company required training as per the Training Matrix.
- Complete Competence system Scheme within 12 months of being assigned.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or higher.

**Salary**: AED20,000.00 - AED25,000.00 per month
