Drill Machine Operator for Crusher Blasting

A Drill Machine Operator for Crusher Blasting is responsible for operating drilling machinery to create blast holes in rock or earth surfaces, and are responsible for selecting drilling locations, controlling drilling speed and depth, and maintaining drilling equipment. He must also ensure that safety standards are met during the drilling process, and must follow specific regulations and procedures for drilling in hazardous environments.

**Responsibilities**:

- drive and operate drilling machines to bore large blast holes to specified depths at staked positions in agreed locations
- measure location and stake out pattern of holes to be drilled
- ensure that all equipment, rigs and associated products are used to their maximum potential, while ensuring their sustainability
- assemble primer charges using appropriately selected detonators, fuses, detonating cords and other materials
- ensure that the highest level of quality is consistently maintained
- follow drill depth plans, organize daily consumables, ensure quality of holes by dipping and re-drilling before leaving drill area
- complete all safety requirements, including for all applicable equipment and machinery and prestart, permits/assessments, erect barricades, bunding, erect signs as required to make work area safe
- ensure that tasks adhere to all safety requirements, including equipment
- ensure compliance with health and safety and all related legal/statutory regulations, policies and procedures, codes, professional duties, responsibilities and obligations
- immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the team or the organization to Manager
- responsibly use resources and control expenses to meet budgetary controls
- adhere to all organisation policies and procedures
- other duties as directed by Supervisor

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Experience as a Drill Machine Operator in Crusher, Crawler Crane experience in piling, civil earthworks or mining
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to adapt to change within a fast-paced environment
- Strong physical fitness
- Attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret maps
- Ability to solve problems quickly and communicate with workers on-site
- A valid driver’s license with a clean history
