- Job Purpose

Research Institute For Humanities and Social Sciences (RIHSS) is seeking to hire a Post-Doctor Researcher, who will oversee the research activities in additive manufacturing and 3D printing at the University of Sharjah. He/ She should hold a Ph.D. degree in 3D printing and Additive manufacturing, with knowledge in plastic and materials science, or Equivalent fields. He/she will be responsible for the day-to-day lab testing, 3D printing-related activities, and producing projects using Rhino software related to the community. He/ she will be also responsible for plastic waste recycling and characterization, testing and analysis of test results, and preparation of technical reports and publications. In order, for this person to be successful, he/she must be committed to a safe work environment and be able to convey the importance of this aspect to involved undergraduate and graduate students. He/she must be a technically oriented person with the specific abilities to read and understand specifications and technical material. He/she must be detail-oriented, a problem solver, and self-dependent with mínimal supervision.
- Main accountabilities & expectations
- Follow all University policies and regulations for safe working procedures
- 3D printing, and plastic recycling
- Interpret polymers mix designs
- Keep records of raw material receipts
- Maintain test results database
- Perform general cleaning of work areas
- Train undergraduate students and research assistants
- Read and understand specifications and applicable test methods
- Oversee and operate all testing machinery and accurately report test findings and observations
- Responsible for proper use and care of lab instruments and testing machines
- Research publications and assist in writing research papers.
- Interact and communicate with students and technicians
- Help in preparing technical reports, journal/conference papers, and research proposals
- Other duties as may be assigned

- **Required Skills**:

- Preferred Qualification & Experience- Ph.D. degree holder from a reputable university
- 2+ years of related work experience
- Have published research in reputable journals, like Scopus.

- Must have a strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures
- Must be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
- Must be willing to work after working hours and during weekends when necessary
- Must be willing to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
- Research publications and assist in writing research papers.

**Knowledge/Skill Requirements**
- Advanced knowledge of polymers and mixed additives, and 3D printers
- Advanced knowledge in conducting mechanical, performance-related, and rheological tests of polymers
- Experience with Rhino software
- Experience with polymers testing
- Knowledge of 3D printing modeling software
- Familiar with 3D printers big scale, and polymers additives
- Experience in handling electronic hardware and software communication is a plus
- Advanced knowledge in analyzing results and preparing technical reports and publications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills; building rapport, listening, presenting, giving, and receiving feedback
- Experience with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Excellent time management and planning skills
- Ability to multi-task

- Able to exert a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects up to 30 kg
