Key Accountabilities:

- Setting up the civil engineering and design standards and criteria for installed and to be installed Data Center facilities.
- Drive the key aspects of legacy and new data center civil engineering systems and requirements to identify improvement areas in existing and hyperscale data center designs.
- Oversee master planning civil engineering systems, constructability and sustainability.
- responsible for and oversee the creation and improvement of data center basis of design & project specifications to drive standardization in the du data center civil engineering performance.
- initiate and lead projects with widespread impact on infrastructure design, innovation and implementation.
- responsible for, conduct, and provide oversight for the review of the civil design of next generation data center sites.
- ability to review business cases and analysis models including total cost of ownership and return on investment to select projects and designs.
- decompose complex problems or new technologies or topologies to distill underlying risks and benefits, and identify straightforward and actionable solutions to reduce risk
- oversee and plan engineering goals for key initiatives that support future projects and growth.
- frequent reviews with business leadership, other Principal Engineers and Sr Engineers.
- actively facilitate the escalation of low-level project issues to senior engineering and business leadership

4. Qualifications, experience, skills and competencies

Qualifications:

- Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Professional Civil Engineering License.

**Experience**:

- 15+ years of relevant civil new design and remediation experience with data centers or telecom facilities or similar mission critical facilities.
- Minimum 10+ years professional experience in commercial, warehouse, and/or industrial site-civil new design and remediation with working knowledge of land use and land development conventional practices.
- 10+ years of experience with building codes, regulations, and standards.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction civil drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

**Skills**:

- Language proficiency in English and Arabic preferable.
- Proficiency with geotechnical engineering standards to review investigations and assessments to determine soil and rock conditions, site suitability, and potential hazards that may affect the project's design, construction, or operation.
- Experience providing technical guidance to project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders on geotechnical issues such as foundation design, slope stability, earthworks, pavement design, and groundwater control.
- Experience providing new and remediation designs for site layout, grading, power substations, storm water, utilities, and pavement.
- Ability to utilize scheduling software to depict land-use approval critical path dependency activities.
- Knowledge of mission critical equipment and systems, design process, pre-construction requirements and the construction process.
- Direct experience with design or construction administration of a variety of electrical distribution systems ranging from low voltage to high voltage.
- Direct experience with operation and maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers.
- Experience as resident engineer or hands-on design consultant.
- Experience mentoring/training the engineering community on complex technical issues.
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center and carrying these into deployment.
- Experience of dealing with customers, specialists and service providers.
- Good understanding of local utility authority’s regulations, specs & approval processes.
- Good knowledge of Data Centers; designing, planning, implementation and building.
- Good conflict training, analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and organizational skills.
- Be customer service-minded and focus on solution providing.
- Ability to respond positively to working in a pressured environment.
- Work well with a team and be co-operative.
