Document controller for construction site job requirements
As a document controller for a construction site, you will play a crucial role in managing and organizing all project-related documentation. Your responsibilities will ensure that important documents are created, distributed, and maintained accurately and efficiently. The job requirements for this role typically include:
Education and Experience:
A bachelor's degree in a related field such as construction management, engineering, or information management may be preferred.
Previous experience as a document controller in the construction industry or related field is highly desirable.
Familiarity with construction processes and terminology is an advantage.
Attention to Detail:
Precision and accuracy are essential, as even small errors in documentation can lead to significant issues on the construction site.
Ensure all documents are correctly named, labeled, and organized in the proper folders or databases.
Document Control Systems:
Proficiency in using document control software and systems to manage and track various documents throughout the project lifecycle.
Expert working level in Microsoft Office programmes.
Experience with Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS) is often required.
Document Management:
Create, review, and update documents such as drawings, contracts, specifications, reports, permits, and other project-related documents.
Establish and maintain a comprehensive filing system, both physical and digital, to ensure easy retrieval of documents as needed.
Distribution and Tracking:
Distribute documents to relevant project stakeholders, ensuring that the right people have access to the correct information.
Track the status of documents, including revisions, approvals, and any other changes.
Version Control:
Implement version control to manage revisions of documents, preventing any confusion about the most current versions.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other team members to ensure document accuracy and completeness.
Facilitate communication between different parties to resolve any document-related issues promptly.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure that all documentation adheres to relevant industry standards, regulations, and contractual requirements.
Conduct regular quality checks to confirm the accuracy and completeness of documents.
Confidentiality and Security:
Handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and maintain strict security protocols.
Time Management:
Be well-organized and capable of managing multiple documents simultaneously to meet deadlines effectively.
Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to identify and address document-related issues promptly and find solutions to ensure smooth project progress.
Adaptability:
