Jr Sous Chef

Daikan, a renowned Japanese cuisine restaurant, is seeking a talented and motivated Jr. Sous Chef to join our team. As a Jr. Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef to assist in overseeing the kitchen operations and ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality food.
**Responsibilities**:
- **Food Preparation and Cooking**: Prepare and cook a wide variety of dishes, ensuring they meet the restaurant's quality standards. Follow recipes and proper procedures to maintain consistency in taste and presentation. Assist in menu development and innovation.
- **Kitchen Management**: Assist in managing the kitchen staff, including training and guiding them in proper food handling techniques, safety procedures, and kitchen operations. Oversee kitchen operations in the absence of senior chefs.
- **Food Quality Control**: Monitor and ensure that all food items are prepared and presented according to established standards. Conduct regular taste tests to maintain consistency in flavor profiles. Address any issues or discrepancies in preparation and presentation.
- **Inventory and Cost Control**: Assist in monitoring and managing inventory levels to minimize waste. Properly store and rotate food products to ensure freshness. Contribute to the overall cost control efforts by minimizing food and supply wastage.
- **Hygiene and Sanitation**: Adhere to strict hygiene, health, and safety guidelines in the kitchen. Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations.
- **Collaboration**: Collaborate with the culinary team to plan and execute special events, themed menus, and promotions. Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and timely service.
**Requirements**:
- Previous experience as a Jr. Sous Chef or in a similar role in a high-volume restaurant setting.
- Proficient in food preparation and cooking techniques, with a deep understanding of Japanese cuisine.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality food.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus.
