**Job Summary**

Direct responsibility for Indirect Tax function in GCC/Middle East. Develop complete understanding of applicable VAT/other indirect tax laws and framework. Keep updated on latest developments. Support relevant BUs in the proper understanding, implementation and compliance with applicable VAT/other tax laws. Lead/support cross functional team for VAT impact analysis; identify/resolve key issues. Effectively use technology to improve indirect tax compliance processes and controls. Facilitate strategic tax planning. Proactively identify and mitigate tax risks. Ensure timely regulatory filings, tax accounting and processing of refunds.

**Roles & Responsibilities**
- Key responsibilities Obtain complete understanding of applicable VAT and other indirect tax laws and framework in the GCC and wider Middle East region.
- Keep updated on latest amendments/judgements.
- Work closely with cross functional team to evaluate the impact of VAT on company operations.
- Ensure that these are satisfactorily addressed.
- Identify potential contentious VAT issues/interpretation of law.
- Obtain clarity and ensure resolution. Ensure that relevant to our BUs are fully ready to Go-Live well before VAT implementation dates in the GCC.
- Ensure compliance with applicable VAT/other indirect tax laws. Conduct periodic tax audits.
- Ensure timely regulatory filing, tax accounting/reconciliation, resolution of accrual accounts and processing of refunds, where applicable.
- Effectively use technology at all stages of indirect tax compliance process to help business save time, reduce risk, lower costs, improve cash flow and unlock indirect tax savings.
- Facilitate strategic tax planning and achievement of business objectives and tax saving opportunities.
- Proactively identify and mitigate tax risks.
- Provide periodic training to BU Finance, Supply Chain, SSC and other teams on VAT implementation, documentation and compliance. Mentor BU / SSC tax compliance teams.

**KPIs**
- Gain strong understanding of applicable VAT/other indirect tax laws/framework in GCC/Middle East.
- Keeping updated on latest developments.
- Support BUs in proper understanding, implementation and compliance with VAT/other indirect tax laws.
- Lead/support cross functional team for VAT impact analysis; identify/resolve key issues. Ensure successful Go-Live.
- Facilitate strategic tax planning.
- Proactively identify and mitigate tax risks. Ensure timely regulatory filings, tax accounting/ reconciliations and processing of refunds.

**Work experience requirement**
- Around 8-10 years relevant experience (of which at least 3 years as managing the function independently) of handling VAT and other indirect tax matters in MNCs (preferably in CPG industry) or Big Four audit firms.
- Prior experience of first time implementation of VAT/GST would be an advantage.
- Prior work experience in Europe will be preferred.

**Qualification**

Professional accounting/tax qualification (CA/CPA/ACCA or equivalent). A legal qualification will be an added advantage.

**Skills**

Domain expert knowledge of VAT and other applicable indirect tax laws. Excellent research skills. Business support through technical and commercial inputs; ability to understand businesses operations and processes from indirect tax perspective. Ability to lead/add value to cross functional initiatives. Hands on exposure to Oracle, SAP or other major ERP for effective tax compliance. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership on Indirect Tax matters. Self-motivated with ability to work independently. Effective communication and presentation skills. Ability to interact with Board/Senior Management. Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills with high attention to detail.

**Salary**: AED25,000.00 - AED35,000.00 per month
