**Job Summary**

Search and Rescue Trainer will operate as part of a 21-man multi-cultural Collective Training Team located in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This position requires experience building realistic training environments through scalable scenarios, performing training oversight and assessment, and performing training support services (e.g., threat replication, maintaining the computer network, conducting After Action Reviews, etc.). The focus for collective training is replicating the environmental conditions and tactical tasks across the Search and Rescue and Coastal Security mission areas. The Search Rescue Trainer must have experience planning and conducting training seminars as well as conducting simulation-based, multi-echelon collective training exercises and leading After Action Reviews. Experience with developing scenarios and conducting training using constructive (e.g., OneSAF, CORA, MASA-SWORD) and virtual simulations (VBS3/VB4) is desired. The Search and Rescue Trainer must be a Maritime Operations Subject Matter Expert with specific skills in maritime search and rescue, coastal protection and sea-based infrastructure security. The Search and Rescue Trainer must also have a clear understanding of U.S. Coast Guard Roles, Responsibilities and Organizations, and how those concepts and capabilities can be scaled and adapted to support training the UAE National Guard. This position requires deep understanding of conducting training events at the tactical and operational levels in order to operationalize implementation of the UAE National Guard from existing Police, Coast Guard and Search Rescue organizations.

**Essential Functions**
- Plan and lead training seminars on search and rescue organizational functions, operations, and capabilities in order to support core UAE National Guard missions and competencies
- Coordinate, as required, with maritime unit commanders to design training seminars and training exercises that align with unit-specific training objectives
- Support the development of After Action Reviews following every training event to bring out learning points and help build unit cohesion
- Identify and document lessons learned throughout the plan, prepare, execute, and assess training process
- Establish and maintain relationships with UAE National Guard Search and Rescue stakeholders and other agencies.
- Exhibit culturally appropriate interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Master’s Degree in a Search and Rescue or Maritime Safety related field
- War College Graduate or MEL 1 equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ experience planning, coordinating or directing search and rescue for incidents, accidents, and disasters at the state or national level
- Experience in US Coast Guard designing, developing and executing multi-echelon, simulation-based training exercises
- Professional experience and knowledge of incident specific SAR plans, programs and resources
- Served as a trainer in a Coast Guard Training Center within the past five years
- Work history in the Middle East is desired
- Support development of team roles, responsibilities and procedures to guide scenario development, exercise design, capture of training outcomes, and the conduct of After Action Reviews

**Required Qualifications**
- Retired Colonel with extensive Coast Guard operational and training experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with mínimal oversight in a variety of roles
- Demonstrated management and planning skills
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge training with Middle East Coalition partners
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite Skills (emphasis in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint)
- Previous work experience in the Middle East is preferred
- Possess active US Secret or higher security clearance
- Possess a valid US Passport (with more than 6 months to expiration)

**Education and/or Experience**
- Master’s Degree in a Search and Rescue or Maritime Safety related field
- War College Graduate or MEL 1 equivalent
- Minimum 5 years’ experience planning, coordinating or directing search and rescue for incidents, accidents, and disasters at the state or national level
- Experience in US Coast Guard designing, developing and executing multi-echelon, simulation-based training exercises
- Professional experience and knowledge of incident specific SAR plans, programs and resources
- Served as a trainer in a Coast Guard Training Center within the past five years
- Work history in the Middle East is desired
