The United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.
The Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) aims to conserve terrestrial, aquatic and avian migratory species throughout their range. It is an intergovernmental treaty, concluded under the aegis of the UN Environment, concerned with the conservation of wildlife and habitats on a global scale. The Convention maintains close institutional and programmatic linkages with its instruments, even with those agreements that are legally independent. CMS and its agreements are often collectively referred to as the “CMS Family”.
The Memorandum of Understanding on the Conservation of Migratory Birds of Prey in Africa and Eurasia (Raptors MOU) is an agreement established under CMS covering 94 species of migratory raptors in Africa and Eurasia. The Coordinating Unit of the Raptors MOU, which is located in the CMS Office - Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), is seeking one or more interns to support its activities.
This internship is located in the CMS Office - Abu Dhabi (part of the UN Environment/CMS Secretariat) at the Abu Dhabi duty station, United Arab Emirates.
The internship is UNPAID. Interns work five days per week (40 hours).
The interns will assist the Coordinating Unit of the Raptors MOU in the management and implementation of a wide spectrum of avian-related activities. The interns will support a selected number of activities out of the following, depending on their personal backgrounds, professional interests and on the actual internship period. The internship is for a minimum of three (3) months and a maximum of up to six (6) months. The interns will report to the Head of the Coordination Unit who will be supported by the Associate Programme Management Officer.
The Internship is for 6 months and UNPAID. Interns work five days per week (40 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
