Our client is a holding based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with construction as its core business. It has worked extensively on studies to reduce the cost of construction on affordable housing for Ethiopia, using modern construction technologies in the country. As the company is significantly enlarging its scope of business and has secured an USD 8.5 billion contract to build new homes, the company is seeking to hire a highly experienced Chief Projects Officer (M/F/d), permanently based in Addis Ababa. The Chief Projects Officer (M/F/d) will be responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of construction projects in Addis Ababa. Reporting directly to the executive management team, this role is critical to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

**Your duties and responsibilities will include**:

- Provide expertise and guidance on construction and engineering projects in Addis Ababa, ensuring quality, cost-control, and adherence to deadlines
- Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets, taking into account resource allocation and project constraints
- Develop and implement construction guidelines, standards, and best practices
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses for potential projects
- Review and approve engineering plans, designs, and construction methodologies
- Monitor project progress and performance, identifying and addressing any challenges or issues
- Ensure efficient resource allocation and construction strategies
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with engineering and construction activities
- Monitor project progress, addressing any issues or delays promptly and implementing corrective actions as necessary
- Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses, and controlling costs effectively
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders involved in the projects.
- Implement quality assurance processes to maintain the highest standards of construction quality.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and regulations relevant to the construction sector

**To be successful in this role you should have the following skills and experiences**:

- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field
- A minimum of 10 years of senior management experience in the construction industry, with a focus on large-scale projects
- Working experience in Africa would be an added value
- Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex construction projects on time and within budget
- In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, industry regulations, and best practices
- Strong business acumen and commercial awareness, with a demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and profitability
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams
- Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building abilities, with a proven ability to establish and maintain strategic partnerships
- Excellent communications skills and cultural awareness
- Willingness to be permanently based in Addis Ababa
