**Role Description**
We are looking for a new member of our Gas team. They will be integral to the next stage of growth for the business. They will be lead on the build out of the analytics to form trading decisions on the spot markets, short term, and long term. It is an exciting role, where one will gain insights into a commodity that will remain in heavy use for at least 15 years. Maybe much more. What is more interesting than the time it has left in use, is that it is becoming more and more global in nature. Combining this with the volatility in demand that can occur (way more than oil - due to variations in heating and power burn demand globally) makes it something very interesting to study. We are confident there will be periods of high volatility in both directions in the years to come. We just need to be set up well to be able to monetize.
**Role responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
- Building generic back testing capabilities for all storage sites in Europe. This is not a forward-looking model, but just looking at what PnL could have been made historically at each site.
- Similar for Gas pipelines. Both are to aid in portfolio building decisions. Combining this info with forward looking models (implied vol and forward curves) and then eventually fundamental views to our gas portfolio. In an ideal world, we should be able to somehow incorporate the above into Celebi.
- Build the analytics for within day spec on the gas team. In theory the fundamentals and tools used for this activity will be significantly simpler than what we use on the power side (as variables are much less), but it is important still they are built in a scalable way. It is also why we think one analyst would be able to cover all of this.
- On a within day basis, we desire to automate as much of the optimization of our portfolio in the future as possible, e.g. changing injection schedules based on prices, or catching a cross-border arb available because we have pipeline capacity. The analyst should be able to oversee the build of these capabilities.
- Overseeing the implementation of our gas balances infrastructure by the technology team. This is what we shall use long term for forward spec gas trading in all regions.
- Once the gas balance infrastructure is in place, they will be the main owner of the balances, and contribute to the different forecasts taking place in them. We envision that certain forecasts may also be owned by data scientists not sat specifically inside the gas team.
- It is important that our gas analytics infrastructure is not built in a silo but integrates well with what we have on the power side. Over the long term it is more important for these two areas to be combined. The analyst will ensure we are always keeping this in mind and continuously increasing our ability to work together across the teams.
- Ideally the analyst should have a strong commercial interest and eventually play a direct role in portfolio building or spec position taking decisions.

- Good technical skills, to be able to hit the ground running.
- Knowledge of our current in-house data infrastructure generally (this does not need to be coming from the analytics team.)
