- Operating machinery to move earth or rock material from one location to another
- Coordinating with other workers to ensure that new construction projects meet safety standards
- Operating equipment to grade land for construction projects such as road building or home building
- Operating heavy machinery such as backhoes or bulldozers to remove debris or wreckage
