It is the responsibility of the Estimation Engineer to ensure that the enquires are responded in short period of time and follow-up with the clients to get the project confirmation based on the submitted quotation,
- Determine cost estimate targets during the design and development process, recommending cost effective solutions
- To work in the shipbuilding & conversion business of the Marine Engineering business and ensure handling of all enquires for various projects related to the business.
- Gather proposals, specifications and related documents and liaise with stakeholders in order to convert specifications to cost estimates for new and current products
- Utilize cost methodologies and tools and appropriate software and packages to prepare and maintain reliable and accurate data
- Coordinate with other departments to review and verify the drawings/scope of work, clients’ clarifications and formulate the scope of work/BOQ.
- Establish cost estimates of production processes and tooling costs and review alternatives or put forward recommendations for improvement
- Assess cost effectiveness of products and track actual costs relative to budget and report status on a regular basis to ensure costs are in line with forecasts
- Monitor and review data and information to detect or assess problems
- Investigate and identify cost reduction opportunities through cost analysis review
- Contribute to cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures and monitor trends
- Prepare cost and expenditure statements, reports and other necessary documentation at regular intervals to share with others in the business
- Support all activities in cost estimating and take a proactive approach towards improvements
- Support and utilize experience to aid best practice in the supplier process in conjunction with members of the purchasing team
- Liaise with purchasing department to provide continued feedback to ensure competitive pricing,
- Analyze supplier quotes and provide information and data, which aids communications with suppliers and customers and achieves cost optimization.
- Prepare Estimation / project summary for management review.
- Support supplier meetings and negotiations to challenge quotation prices and aim for cost reductions to meet target costs
- Monitor and reconfirm that all the relevant documents submitted to client are approved and processed for payments with accounts team
- Ensure the job completed as per allocated budget and submit the reports to management approval;
- Adhere to QHSE policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors
- Engages interest and participation of others and has a collaborative approach to working with others
- Proactively contributes to the team and actively committed to teams development

**Essential**

Diploma or Degree Graduate with 6 to 10 years in a shipbuilding / ship yard environment with at least 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in the estimation function.
- Must be conversant with all class rules.
- Well verse in company policies and department procedures, Work instructions
- Good knowledge of work and technically sound in the Marine field of Mechanical, Fabrication, Piping & Painting
- Knowledge of local / GCC markets standards and rates for manpower, machinery and subcontractors will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of the various assembly processes and steps in building of various modules in the shipbuilding process.

- Deck Machinery, Cranes, Winches, Pumps and Compressors etc.
- Long-Lead Parts and Components in a shipbuilding process
- Must have the ability to read and interpret drawings from the enquiries and prepare BOM's accordingly.
- Good IT systems knowledge and skills including advanced Excel skills, Ideally experienced in the use of spreadsheets, estimating pricing models and cost management tools
- Able to show evidence of adding value and cost optimization
- Good presence of mind and decision making
- Must have good in communication skills in way of engaging between subordinates and management team
- Very good English Knowledge and communication

**Desirable**

Any Engineering Graduate (Mechanical / electrical / Marine / Production disciplines preferred) or Naval Architecture degree.
